Hi all,

Trawling the classifieds at all rounders and wondered what your opinions / experiences are?

By all rounder I mean I has to have rear seats, can be 2 door but has a real split personality... Great drivers car, fast, involving to drive but then can be driven in comfort and refinement when wanted.

I'm thinking M3 probably but what do you think?

What about an Aston Martin DBS?

997 Turbo S PDK - 4 seats, 4 wheel drive, no need to learn how to control a big power clutch, and does this to a fast car off the line http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqqk5V0uiYc

I find my Impreza Turbo wagon a pretty good all rounder.

Fast enough for most situations, track-able, seats for 5, decent sized boot, put roof bars on the rails and carry bikes or canoe on the roof plus people and kit inside. 4WD and with winter tyres it was un-stopable in the snow.
It's reasonably compact so easy to drive and park in town.

I suppose the only real issue could be fuel economy.

Got to be an estate car for me but then is it "all-rounder except for offroad and towing?". If there are any offroad and towing requirements then a 4x4 is probably a better all-rounder than an estate.

FF Range Rover is the most all round car out there.

If you want a sporting slant, as most of us would, I'd still plump for an E39 M5 as being the greatest.

For what sort of money? Are we talking e36 or brand new e90? If the latter why an all-rounder? Maybe 2 cars would be a better bet. But really depends on who and how much the back seats will be used.

E39 M5 if running costs are no issue.

E60 535d if they are.
