I bought a van (Vauxhall Movano Hi-top LWB) that was already partly kitted out with plumbed water, gas hobs etc with the intention of converting it to a nice place to sleep when I go racing.

I've bought a load of kit to put in it (fridge/freezer, shower, tv/dvd, aerial, skylights etc) and was planning to do the build myself which I've started.

I've now been given a project at very short notice which means I'll hardly be at home until the next race in July.

In short, I want to pay someone to finish it for me before July as I just don't have the time at the moment. I've emailed/called a few companies but none have got back to me as yet and I really want to get moving on this.

Does anyone on here have any contacts in this industry? Alternatively, are there any ex-coachbuilder types on here that could do it for me?

Cheers

Bill

I know some guys in Bristol who do a lot of VWs, but I suspect most of the companies do their own kits. And they're all booked up as it's the summer and everyone wants their van finished yesterday.

You'd probably be better to find a chippy who can take instruction.

Thanks - I haven't but will drop them a line and see what they say. I think unfortunately most of the big outfits won't want to touch something like mine where I already have the parts and just need it all fitting, they'd rather (understandably) use their own stuff.

It's more the smaller family run places I was referring to due to the above.

Yes I think you're right.
But worth a try. You never know.
We try and employ kitchen fitters for our work as they have the right skil set.
You could do well to find one?

If no luck; try boat-builders.

how much did you buy the van for, and how much are you getting quoted to convert?

might a cheapo Mazda Bongo or a Chevy Dayvan for about £4k be a better ready-to-go option?

Friend of mine did it to a LWB Hi-Transit a couple of years ago. I'll ask but I think He's pretty snowed under at the moment.
