i spoke to paul @ autec about this when my 400 failed it's MOT on emissions, and he reckons that they're not worth it.
They cleaned mine properly on the test rig thingy and it made a noticable difference to the better for the running of the car.

I had a Range Rover last year that had a rough idle even after changing plugs, HT leads, rotor arm and cap. So as a last resort I tried using RedX injector cleaner and within a couple of hundred miles it was idling very sweetly. It may have been coincidence I will never know, but it appeard to work. On the other hand I have a similar problem (rough idle when warm) on a Rover K series 1.4 mpi but the RedX treatment had no affect at all, guess I will have to keep looking on that one.

The best way to clean injectors is with a sonic bath. many of the main dealerships have these now, as modern small hole injectors are more prone to fouling than the oder ones. You could try to phone a few to see what they have. Try the VW dealers first

Generally speaking i have had very good results with fuel additives.. one or two did not seem to do anything, but one could have just kept things clean rather than cleaned, i put a good quality one in my car the last time i went on a very long run it worked fantaticly but of course it could have been the run itself that did it. Put a good quality one in and go for a good 100mile blast in a strait line preferable a motorway at about 90mph and perhaps both will sort out running probs did on mine, was like a new car...

Would playing Sonic the Hedgehog (R) on my PC in the vicinity of the car work as well? - Streaky
