Okay, I *think* this is car related, so in the right place...

Any motorsport/vinyl experts in the house?

I have decided for LeMans to 'sticker' the car, got some rather nice 'Gulf/Pistonheads' ones, as well as some Michelin corner stickers and a novice cross for the back (My first trip to LeMans). Today at Oulton for the BTCC I saw some race numbers (The white circular backs, with the numbers), and though that might finish off the car nicely. One problem. I got home and the back of the sticker is marked 'Avery 400 Permanent'.

So to the great and knowledgeable Pistonhead world, I have but one question:

Does this mean that the adhesive is permanent, hence adhering them to my doors will result in my temporary LeMans branding being a little more permanent than planned, or does it refer to the materials ability to be printed on 'permanently' (E.g. It wont fade)?

Would really appreciate some guidance here from the any experts, as nice though it will look for the weekend, it might look a little odd in the car park on the Tuesday morning! hehe

Thanks in advance!

Mod's, please don't move this to 'Stickers, Vinyl & Graphics'
PS - Hope everyone else who is off to LeMans is looking forward to it as much as me!

'Twas my first port of call, but if you have seen a link that mentions specifically its removability <sp?> it would be very helpful. I only found links to buy it, or outline the technical spec, and that still didn't help.

I've never met a vinyl sticker yet that won't come off with the help of a hairdryer.

This has been my past experience, but I don't want to find out the hard way that there is one that wont! smile

I *think* what it means, is it's permanent in the case where is won't come off under normal use (wind/rain/ice) - unlike the vinyl stickers on our company van which are peeling off all by themselves...

If it was me, I'd give the panel a good waxing first then stick 'em on. On removal, it might take some wax off but leave the paintwork untouched.

That is what I am hoping! I think I may call a local sign-writing place tomorrow to check, whilst I could have pulled off the 'race number' look permanently on my old MX-5, I think a dark blue 3 series touring might look a little ridiculous after the event! hehe

Thanks for taking the time to respond! smile
