Campsites @ Lake Como
Discussion
Hi
We are planning an Euro 2 weeks trip taking our MTB's with us. Initial plan is the Black Forest, Lugano and then ending at Lake Como. We are looking to camp on some legs to help reduce the cost (admittedly, not my 1st choice!). Looking on the web, there are zillions of campsites, so we are looking for recommendations on any decent campsites you've visited at Lake Como. The areas we've looked at (so far) are Domaso and Dongo, but are unsure if they are suitable. We prefer an area / campsite where we can ride our MTB, decent restaurants, and close to the ferry so we can visit other parts of the lake. Any recommendations will be appreciated.
Thanks
Tom

Just got back from Como - we didn't camp, but did drive pretty much the whole way round. The only camp sites I noticed were in the north of the lake - the ferries stop at Colico, Gravedona and Dongo (and I think Domaso) - though they are not as frequent as they are further south, and there is much less to do.
As you get further north there are marshes (sam as Maggiore) where I presume there will be mosquitoes.
