My mum is getting cooler as she ages...
Discussion
In the last 2 weeks my Mum and her partner have bought 2 new cars, and I am properly jelous....
She is 61 FFS, and a girl.... :-)
The first was a Daimler SP250 Dart last week.....

And then today I get a text picture of this, never seen one before, it's called a "Buckler" apparently. I think they made a Lotus-type sports racer too, but I have no idea what model this one is???? You cannot see it in this picture, but the rear end is almost like a boat, really long rear overhang going into a sharp point.

And she gets married next month, mid life crisis!!!!!

These particular two they have just got, but my Mums partner supplies vehicles to TV and movies as his job. He has around 60 vehicles, specialising in 60's cars, police vehicles and commercial vehicles. Movies he has done include Lock Stock, Snatch, Layer Cake, Bank Job, plus Ashes to Ashes and Life on Mars. Pretty much all the commercial and Police vehicles in those are his. Cars he has include e-type roadsters, MKII Jag, Capri, Cortina, Austin A35, and all the vans/ landrovers used on Heartbeat . If you want to make a 60's gangster flik, go and see him! He even has the MK1 Transit securicor van which had it rear doors blown off in the opening scene of Layer Cake. That was a funny one, they wanted to blow it completety upbut he said no as MK1 Transits are pretty rare now so he would have trouble replacing it. So the film company offer him BIG money for the old van and he still said no. So they ended up getting the props and special effects department to mould fibreglass copy rear doors from the originals, those are what you see blown off in the film. The old girl lived to film another day, and she is still going strong! My own Scimitar SE5a came from him, and was used as the murderers car in an episode of Inspector Lewis, a spin off of Inspector Morse.
He does do rallies in some of the cars, we took an E-type to the Laon Historique,

I remember that car being built, it had a more traditional rear then & polished ali. It was sold to someone else who remodelled it and raised the body a little. and painted green I think. It then passed through an auction house or dealer in London in the late 70's, dissappeared from view for a while then reappeared blue. It featured in a Kit Car mag about 12months ago. Just don't mention the 3 pin plug and the electricity sub station officer.
