Had the decats on a week now and driven the car a few times now the weather is picking up again smile

I've noticed that on occassion, on startup the car will puff out an amount of grey smoke (fuel I would assume). It doesn't do it each time or when cold/warm...just randomly, as it used to sometimes puff smoke from under the bonnet on startup (once or twice).

Under acceleration there's no smoke but on a traffic light take off with medium/heavy throttle in first it did give off some smoke (grey again) until the change to second.

It's more a puff than a stream of the stuff....anyone noticed similar after decatting? there is also more of a fuel smell when this occurs.

do you need a remap for your decats? Might not be running proppa?

Nope, no smoke from the decats.

But it does make the odd bit of fire.

Ok, i also get flames...no remap. The car drives and pulls well, might be a bit more of a flatspot mid revs then feels better at peak.

You don't need a re-map as such, just a de-cat chip.

Jason at st8six can help. There are some for sale on fleabay on on the PH classifieds.

No smoke biggrin and no flames frown, i'm wondering whether RaceProved may have done a bit of work when the decats were fitted last year.

Sorry, we've not been much help, if it's not a re-map/chip issue, just book it in for a health check, £50 - £60 for an inspection would be the safest option, that's what i would do as i know bugger all about the tech side of cars.

it should make no difference with regards smoke as you should not be getting any and you do not need to change the chip either in the real world. Can you video the smoke / when does it actually happen?

I will try to video it next time the car comes out to play. It has done it a few times when starting the car, it may last for a second, it did it once under fairly heavy throttle from the lights in 1st only.
