Do the bonnet struts just prise off when you want to remove the bonnet? Before I go in there and snap them then realise they had to be taken off another way

If it's the same as mine then yes.
IIRC there is a metal clip which can be er-unclipped to make removal easier.

Yer was just wondering if the top of the strut prides away its a small ball and socket connection is that what comes apart?

Some of them have a small plastic peg that has to be prised out with a small screwdriver - it locks the socket to the ball. Should be obvious where you need to poke your tool
