Bike rack on a BGT

I want to fit a bike rack to the back of the car (as opposed to on top), so if it presents no legal issues (narrow car wide bikes) I'll probably make or get something made that's bespoke. Tow bar is out as I will not fit one (unless there is absolutely no other alternative)

Has anybody out there done this ?
