breakfast club 5.6.11 disappointed

Now i know the breakfast club is free and all that jazz but i do get angry when i see cars like the T440R and dozens of other nice examples in the car park and things like a MK2 astra, a volvo estate of no significance,an old citroen thing witch in there own right are very clean and nice cars but my point is why do the organisers of the event bother having themes and then turn away the very cars they are trying to involve.
I guess i should know better as at the scs i turned up in my cerbera and the marshal on the gate said to me "so you think thats a super car do you" i said "well maybe it was of its time" and he just sniggerd and said "na mate its just a tvr" that morning i saw a escort 1600i on display (out gunned by the best;))anyway i also mortgaged the car to buy a hotdog that was under cooked and so was thrown away .i would like to add i have been going to the breakfast club since its conception and i will not be going again it has as all goodwood events gone downhill as its got bigger very poor show...........so rant over i shall now await the tsunami of criticism

I would agree, the theme cars arn't very well sorted. Plenty in the car park that should've been inside, and some inside that should've been kept out.

The Escort, I can see should be inside....

Sporting legends, not supercars was the theme!!!

I missed yesterday, quite a few regulars getting a tad fed up with the selection of theme cars.

Can't comment on yesterday myself though.

I've been going since inception too and now don't even worry about theme as there is always something interesting to look at. Its too easy to get lost in the 'theme' argument. Sod it just enjoy it for it being a bloody good free car show and who cares what turns up or gets in where. I even look at the field as fair game for some great cars so I have even more chances of turning up something good. Glass is still half full..

Thirded. Also these are for the most part peoples own cars and not anything to do with the manufacturer so there is no guarantee what will turn up on the day.

The problem is that it's just the guys in the luminous jackets who make the choice, I think it's a bit of a dodgy "grading" system they have going.

But I think if you turn up to GBCs enough with something which little kids would gawp at, you should get into the line up eventually.

On another note; I found it quite funny that when my dad blipped the throttle in the 458 it set off the councils sound sensors and he got a slap on the wrist...

I hope it woke the grumpy buggers up, if the locals don't like the sound, maybe they shouldn't live near a fking race track???

Fourthed! GWBC has always had a touch of the random about it, and I quite like that eccentric side. It's a relaxed atmosphere and morning. Unlucky with your hotdog OP, you should have taken it back, I'm sure they would have replaced it. I can heartily recommend the bacon and egg sarnie.

It is all a bit random. I drove down intending to park in the non-themed section (I wouldn't call my Granturismo a sporting legend..), but on my way down the A3 I ended up in the middle of a convoy joining from Guildford and slotted in to that (just behind a lovely original M3, a white GT3 and an Exige S, I think). Anyway, the group headed towards the themed area and, much to my surprise, I was waved in (although the GT3 and Exige in front of me were not).

It was nice to see my car on the circuit, but that isn't why I go. It's just a nice opportunity to blend a blast in the GTS with a few hours checking out interesting machinery. And I know that many people, like me, wander off to the car parks to see what is there because there is so much to see away from the main display.

Overall, whilst the BC may not be perfect, I think we're lucky to get a free event like this and should be bit more forgiving of the marshals who give up their free time to take on a pretty thankless task.

And my full English was so tasty that by 11am I was back at the van for a bacon butty..

Organic pork stays pink so can look undercooked but you should have taken it back... No-one on here can do anything about it!

The problem is that the council are all over Goodwood like a rash with regards to sound pollution. They have to be very careful not to exceed the stated limits and there is a lot at stake with regards to the use of the track throughout the year.

I agree with you though, I'd swap my house for one close to the track any day of the week. Grumpy gits

I stumbled upon the same convoy, that e30 M3 really was lovely! I also enjoyed listening to your car as well whilst overtaking (I was the little Twingo 133 Cup towards the back )

I didn't even get as far as the GT3 and the Exige, but I was going to/expecting to park in the public area anyway, was just following the convoy round.

One thing that has disappointed me is the bluntness of officials in general. About a year or so back, a friend and I turned up to a PH meet in his clean and tidy Mk6 Zetec-S Fiesta. Not fast and exotic I know, but at our age, we both were paying through the nose to be able to run and insure our respective cars. Said steward then says to us after we ask if its ok to leave after being there a good hour and a half, "I'd say yes if you'd brought something better!" which I thought was downright rude.

Is it so much to say, "Sorry sir, I'm afraid your car doesn't fit in with our themed marque this time"

True, some people work their nuts off to pay for their pride and joy, weather or not it's a supercar, everyone still deserves a certain level of respect.

Just commemorate him for having to work in a high vis. on a Sunday morning to pay for his 18 year old volvo.

I agree that there is no need for rudeness and/or sarcasm.

I did see your silver Twingo in the convoy. Was there a Nissan 300ZX or similar just in front of/behind you? I could see something large and Japanese looking towards the rear of the snake, but wasn't sure what it was.

It was a very tidy looking Supra, by the rate at which it overtook things and squatted under acceleration, I'd say it was running some fairly tasty figures as well. The guy in it was kind enough to go at the back to make sure I didn't get lost, I think he had a PH sticker as well, so to that bloke thanks!

Really glad I swung past the Cathedral to see if there were any convoys gathering, otherwise my journey down would have been much less eventful on the A3 for another hour or so!

The "old citroen thing witch" was a Citroen SM. Wonderful looks, Maserati engine, Rally history, great cars.

At least you got to go. My car left me stranded on a grass verge about two miles outside Goodwood and I never did get my breakfast. I went home in an AA truck.
