When I say shroud, I mean the plastic tray the standard I/c sits in.
I was advised that the JNM one is a better design that the pro alloy one. I don't anything about there things, so went with what was recommended.
JNM said its an easy fit, just abit of cutting needed, so I'm trying to gauge who has one and was it straight forward

I am very curious how or why the JNM design is better, is this mechanical? is it more efficient? what temp drop is it capable of achieving?

30% larger intercooler with 25% more efficient core.
Charge temps reduced from 65 degree c to 36 degree c during our testing at 28 degree c ambient temp.
Equates to 60 to 80 more B.H.P. through the gears.
The pro-Alloy product is two coolers in one package, so must dy definition be 100% bigger.
When tested the pro-Ally product was dropping 140 down to 40 degrees c . sorry 65 degrees is totally irrelevant
For most cars you don't gain power as they imply, a good intercooler will help you loose less.
The intercooler enclosure is made from sheet aluminium.

I have fitted one before, but on mine the IC box was not out of plastic, the one in the pic below is not a JNM intercooler, but it is similar.
If you want to really improve air flow through the intertcooler, you need to seal the top of the intercoller to the clam with a foam strip, JNM glue the foam strip to the top of the IC but i think glueing it to the underside of the clam gives a neater finish.
NOtice how i have sealed around the back sides of the IC, this is to stop heat from the exhasut coming round the sides and heat soaking the IC when stationary, if you are going to add a fan then put it on the back of the intercooler to pull air through(or for J to create a low pressure area top the rear of the intercooler) this way it will not block air flow. Heat shield the front of the IC box and also the underside, for the underside i used 1/2" heat insulation, with glass alloy cloth over the top, with another alloy heat shield over the turbo and exhaust.

Adrian, i think JNm are talking about temps after the intercooler so with standard IC temps were 65deg after IC and with bigger IC the temps were dropped to 40, where as the proally temps are before and after intercooler.
The pro alloy is dual core but when i looked at one i thought each core looked quite narrow.
There is a lot more to designing intercoolers than meets the eye, you can create a larger cooling area without increasing internal volume, a big internal volume IC can cause lag and inconsistent boost on the small turbos, so the JNm IC may well be more efficient for the cars running less boost.

I didn't mean to come across condecending, i just wanted to point out that bigger is not always better with regards to intercoolers, i believe Jay has the 2.5?, but as you know its not just about cooling the air otherwise we would all just put massive 100mm core greddy's for 200 euro.The JNM Intercooler is fine for road use & is an improvement over the standard Noble one but the Proalloy is a big improvement over the Noble Motorsport again.

Also Jay has bought the JNM IC now , i just thought pointless trying to make him feel like hes being ripped off after the fact, because its just not the case, the JNM intercooler works very well, granted the Pro alloy one is proven to lower air intakes more, but has anybody with a 2.5 actually measured what the difference in lag is between the two?

I put an intercooler with 50% more internal volume on with the R spec T25's and the lag was noticaeable, i went to 25% more internal volume with 50% more cooling area and hit the perfect mixture.
Better as in lowering air temps more, which is better for the more powerful cars running more boost, the NMS is great for stock cars and is slightly smaller in volume, so for those running less boost with lesser volume of airflow it could actually offer better performance gains as the turbos do not have that larger volume to fill.

You're in danger of sparking off a pressure drop debate here,Size/volume is not necessarily key to your argument.
