Go test drive something you used to drive!

Oh my god, how could I have forgotten so much? I must have been driving with rose tinted Googles on.

I think the problem lies in that over the last 4 years I have traded-up. (With the exception of the RS4 to Corsa VXR scenario that is). Each time without really noticing the build quality and overall package has increased with it.

I was getting a little down over the condition of my car. Its on a 56 plate, ive spent 40hrs on paint correction but the bonnet is a mess after last winter. Ive replaced the front bumper with an OE item and replaced the headlights. I had thought about a new car at around 1 year old but to be honest the 10 plate and the 60 plate that I looked at are way worse than my 56 plate.

I now love my car more than ever and given the crowd that gathered around my 56 plate it’s evidently more desirable than what I was looking at. Im not going to name brands.

I think ill just get the bonnet resprayed…and a memory self-help book!

that sounds like an interesting new service from our favourite internet search provider. Would it only tell you nice things about whatever you were searching for?

I've only done this once, with a Mk1 Toyota MR2, and came away wondering how on earth I managed to do long trips in it given the surprising lack of legroom. Still an absolute blast to drive though.

Curious, but how can you fail to notice. And if indeed you did, why did you bother to trade up as it would seem a somewhat pointless exercise.

Doesn't always work. I can't imagine feeling good in my Golf if I test drive a Chimaera.

What odd/good timing for this topic! My '04 X Type was off the road for a repair today so I used my 99 MX5 again as I did for the 15 months prior to buying the Jag.
Experienced this very phenomenon, as although the Mazda is a LOT of fun I went into Central London and came back somewhat knackered. Also the traffic was NOT fun, even with the sun out and the roof down I was pining for the COMFORT, air con, good stereo acoustics, sound deadening, oh, and road presence of the jag. I got cut up a lot in the Mazda. laugh

Want to feel good about your car? Get a lift with someone else in their car. Clonks, wobbles, vibrations, bits of trim falling off, half inch of dirt on the carpets, filthy windows that mist up at the first hint of moisture. I don't know anyone who looks after their car, even so-called petrolhead mates. Makes me appreciate my (much older) car so much.

I want my old car back, not because it was better / faster / newer or anything like that, Just because i realy liked it and couldnt afford to keep it and get a new car. It just had that something. It did need a bit of rust fixing on the arch but that wouldnt have been a problem.

So, X412GDV Ford Focus Collection 3dr in silver, I want you back.
