Over the last few months I've been shooting more film than digital, having picked up a couple of cheap-but-good 35mm cameras and a expensive-but-awesome medium format Bronica (expensive in relative terms). Having shot a few rolls of film and had some disappointing results due to poor processing, I decided to see if I could do better myself at home. Really rather pleased with the results (below) and there are some more on Flickr along with details of the processing method. These were all taken with a Yashica Electro 35 which cost me £35 on ebay (plus new light seals and a battery adaptor) on Ilford XP2 pro.

I really like the look of those!
Did you develop the XP2 at home?
I've just bought a Pentax ME Super. It's in fantastic condition for something it's age, and I'm about a third of the way through the first roll of XP2. I was planning on getting that developed in a lab just to see how the camera has done (it's supposed to be fine, the guy had been using it), then moving on to using conventional B&W film and learning to do it myself, then scanning the negatives.
Did you develop the XP2 at home?
I've just bought a Pentax ME Super. It's in fantastic condition for something it's age, and I'm about a third of the way through the first roll of XP2. I was planning on getting that developed in a lab just to see how the camera has done (it's supposed to be fine, the guy had been using it), then moving on to using conventional B&W film and learning to do it myself, then scanning the negatives.

Thank you, yes I developed the XP2 at home, if you have a look in FLickr at the description on the photo of the chap reading the book I've put a fairly comprehensive run-down of the process. As you probably know, XP2 is designed for a C-41 (colour) process but if you can get hold of some B&W developer called Rodinal (or sometimes R09) you can use that, as I did. Theres quite a bit on google about it and it is very easy to do yourself.Did you develop the XP2 at home?

I've not used a Pentax ME, but I hear good things about them. Have a look on Ebay at the 50mm Pentacon or Carl Zeis Jena lenses with an M42 fitment, they'd fit your camera with an adaptor and are, for the ~£40 you'll pay, a stunning lens. I have a Pentacon which I use on my Nikon D40 and although it doesn't allow me to focus beyond about 15ft on the D40, it out classes the brand new £150 Nikon 50mm lens I bought.

Not going to buy any other lenses at the moment, but I will keep your suggestions in mind for when I do. I've got the 50mm F.17 lens with the camera and apparently it's not too bad and I could also get decent results on my 550D with it if I bought an EOS adapter.

Had a look at the description on Flickr, and that seems easy enough, although I'd likley still get it developed for me. Since I've not go the point where I've bought anything for developing at all, let alone even tried it with the regular B&W film.
