Im destined not to have a TVR...
Discussion
Hi Peeps..Im really beginning to think i was not destined to own a TVR..This morning i got back after my mate gave me a lift to pick up the rockers and decided to start the car..As i got in i could smell fresh petrol again so i checked the filler neck hose..Its Leaking like a tw
t..Started the car up and it was idling lumpy so i changed the vacuum pipe as that came this morning..The one the garage put on there was full of cracks..Why he changed it i dont know as mine was ok..Anyway put it on ..No change..I had to turn the mixture screw 4-5 turns to get it to stop shuddering but even then when i revved it gently it still shuddered from 1500rpm-2000rpm and back down again..Checked the plug leads and air intake..pulled each plug off made no difference so i phoned the garage and he said the metering head that he swapped with mine might have a bit of debriis in there so i attempted to put mine back on..Got as far as swapping all the lines over then couldnt get two of the three screws out that secure it on..So i put them back into the one thats on it..As i was doing the last one up the plastic injector pipe split..tried to use a heat gun to pop it back on as they are heat pressed on there but had no joy..I now have a totally dead car again and think its time to call it a day..Theres no justice in the amount of money and time that it has cost me compared to the time ive had to drive it..I think its going to befall a nasty hot accident as i cant sell it in its current state and the money ill get for it wont get me another ..Especially before BBWF...A really peed off ziga.

Hi Stu..thanks for that but i have ordered some 2"ID fuel hose..The marine stuff is not good..Its slowly seeping through..Been on to car builders solutions and they are sending some tomorrow..Thanks anyway..
Hi Andy..Again thanks for the offer but i have already ordered an MGB one as i saw it mentioned on a previous post..My biggest problem is opening the bonnet..I read that it can be done with a long bamboo stick which i nabbed off me neighbour and will try tomorrow..Unless anyone knows a better way..Cheers..Ziga

the plastic injector pipe split..tried to use a heat gun to pop it back on
I would be a little careful heating the plastic pipe, you will probably end up with an oversize pipe that doesn't seal on the barbs of the banjo. I have fitted these banjos onto the original pipe in the past, the method I used was to drill a hole the same size as the OD of the fuel pipe in the centre of an offcut of steel , say 1" cube, then hacksaw the block into two down the centre of the drilled hole. You can then hold the pipe in the block in a bench vice with about 20mm of pipe protruding above the block, using a mallet you can then tap in the banjo.Hopefully you fuel pipe hasn't hardened too much.
Chris.
C'mon Ziga,
It can't be that bad, whenever things get like that for me i think back to when I was 17 an I fitted a CV joint on my mini 20 min's to do the job 6 f
king hours to get the A hole of a clip in place....
when I took the sills of my 350 to spray I found the outriggers needed atention that ended up a 6 month body off rebuild (but it was'nt as bad as the f
king CV joint).........
I have to say as much as I feel for your situation I think the bonnet cable post you put up was the funnest post i have read so far

tears of laughter that is.....sorry!!!!maybe you should go hit it with a stick John Clease style...
seriously though give the garrage you are using the flick.
Clean the throttle body and AFM and take it to an injection specialist,My old 350 was running like a bag of s
t and i did just that, took it to a place in Southend (prob 15 years ago now)but the difference was amazing several things wrong mounted up but all small and cheep...
I know you have the other issues HG etc. but stick with it otherwise someone will pick up a bargin, fix it and have a great toy it might as well be YOU!
Good Luck
You've more chance getting to BBWF than me!
