F***ing inconsiderate drivers...

Please excuse the rant but...
Went to a christening at 9.30am Sunday morning. Arrived just in time, dropped the girlfriend off (as she was godmother!) and then parked the Chim at the end of a line of parked cars right outside the church.
On returning to the car after the service I find that the car behind me has gone, but not before smacking my rear bumper 3 times!!!
Causing some scratches and cuts to the middle of the bumper, a massive chunk of paint chipped off, and some more scratches.
And of course no note!
I am SOOOO pissed off. How can you smack a car 3 f**king times and not notice. I suspect it was one of the doddery old gits in the church who left straight after the service - we hung around talking about babies
I only had the front done back in January after some old granny reversed into me - at least I was there for that one. So now I'm gonna have to get the back done.
Any ideas on cost for a rear end respray??
Anyway - felt like shouting a bit, as I managed to stay very calm yesterday when it actually happened!
Just makes me so angry.....

I sympathise with you , but try chips away they are very good before you go for the cot of a respray.
Let me tell you about my little todo, we were in my wife's brand new V70T5R AWD and not my Griff so 36 grands worth of motor, we had the car for exactly two days , on a beautiful Saturday we went for a run to North wales parked near the Great Orm on a busy main street and off we went pottering about, very pleased with the car after a few hours we were heading back to the can from across the road I could see this f***ing muppet trying to park behind me, I couldn't believe it when he bumped the car behind him then pulled forward and bumped our car then back again and touched the car behind him and yet again forward and nudged our new car.
I realised THAT WAS HOW THIS COMPLETE WAN**R parked his 15 year old Datsun, I won't go into the sordid story about how I tried to drag this idiot out his car and dismember him , enough to say that I do feel for you
If it had been my pride and joy parked there, which by the way is only worth half as much as the Volvo then I would have been up for manslaughter.
It would have been justifiable homicide or even a crime of passion!

I recently had a conversation with two female friends who tried to convince me that 'touch parking' was a perfectly valid technique for getting in to tight spaces.
You can imagine the look on my face!
My girlfriend does that when she is in Italy but I've warned her never to do it over here.
Some of the spaces I've found the car in need to be seen to be believed.

Ropey,
I suggest you do NOTHING for at least 6 months.
The guy I bought my car from (Indie Dealer in exotica) "tapped" the rear end when parking up.
Initially there were a couple of scratches, which they touched up.
Six months later ..........
Stress cracks have appeared along with paint crazing.
Leave it for as long as you can as it takes a while for stresses to come through.
Mine will need a respray, but I'm leaving it to next year now.
Simon
Hmmm, I was thinking of leaving it a bit, just in case the stress cracks start to appear.
I've got some spare paint from when the front was done in January, so when I give her a clean at the weekend, I shall paint in the white bits so it's not quite so obvious.
I guess me painting in the chips won't make any difference if I do choose to get Chips Away to do anything in the future?
I might be using the Chim as part of my Dad's wedding car business fairly shortly, so I need the back to look pretty tidy! Plus, every time I go round the back of her, my eye is just drawn to the large white patches.
How I wish I could have been there when the person did it!

Give Honestfreddie a shout and see what he says.
He is has a chipsaway franchise and also owns a Chim.
Did some work on zztop's Griff recently and zztop was praising the work.
Simon
Bumper to bumper parkers is one thing - bumper with a tow bar on it to bumper is a little more painful. Went to get in the Chim to see this big pile of sh*t parked infront of me, knowing it was going to be the very last thing I wanted to see, I tempted fate and had to check the front was OK. Sure enough, you could see the white chips from left to right all along the bumper as the incapable tos*er slowly squeezed into a gap with enough room for a moped. Went back to the house to get paper and pen to take down details of the veichle best described as something off scrap head challenge to find that there was another collection of chips from right to left and the truck had gone.
Never seen him/her since but when I do..........
