Painting an XC Frame .... Car Paint???

I'm thinking of getting my old Giant XtC re-painted

Is car paint OK ... or is it not tough enough?

I resprayed an old frame myself using car paint (Matt black) - it lasted well, even though I didn't prepare the frame that well.
