Just been reading up on it. Looks like a Wii HD.. 1080 through HDMI, SD and USB, backward compatible with Wii and it works with Wii controllers. Then you get to the new controller...


6" touch screen, Wii motion controls, microphone, speakers, vibration, camera, analogue sticks, shoulder buttons, triggers, stylus... that is one crazy piece of kit!

I really like the look of this.
I've been a fan of the wii since it came out and used to use my one quite a bit,
I use my PC for most games but the Wii is quite good for quick multiplayer games etc.

Might be cheaper to buy another console rather than just a controller for 2 player action.

What made the Wii such a big hit with non gamers was the simplicity of the controls.
This looks like a step backward to me, and those controllers won't be cheap.

Is this their misguided attempt to try and gain some of the hardcore gamer market.
I think they are struggling after cornering the casual family gaming market and then choking after Sony and MS came out with there own wave your hands about controls. I wonder if Mario and Zelda are enough to make them profits?

I was very sceptical when I first read about this, but after seeing the [second half of the first] video in the OP, they have come up with some pretty cool usages for it, and it actually looks quite cool. I like the idea to keep with the support for current gen Wii peripherals too.

I won't be rushing out to buy one on release day but if it works well then I could be tempted later.

So with all the other news coming out of E3 this week Nintendo have shown off their new console for 2012. It finally has HD but is it too little too late? Our Wii isn't even out on the home cinema stand anymore, I couldn't even tell you which cupboard it was in. Once the gimmick of being able to bowl or serve in tennis without much accuracy with a Wii-mote was over it didn't really deliver much. My 360 on the other hand is a workhorse for streaming video and xbox live, even the girlfriend prefers it with Kinect and games like LA Noir. Would you give Nintendo another chunk of your hard earned for this thing? At least when the gimmick of looking at your inventory (that seems like a fail like on the Zelda pic - looking down at your lap and then back up at the screen to change weapons?) runs out then the system seems like it will be able to play the bigger boys games, but are they a generation too late?





I would definately like that controller to be hacked and used with the media PC!

I cant make up my mind on it yet, it looks quite cool, but it will be just the same as the wii, fun for 10 mins then gimmicky and pointless with a catalog of crap games.

Judging by the fact Nintendos shares dropped 5% to lower than they have been since before the wiis announcement (apparently) just reinforces that loads of people agree.
