Thrust Bearing - gearbox drop?

I've just destroyed the thrust bearing on my Cerb. I would use the search function, however it appears not to currently work.
I wondered if it was just a simple matter to drop the box and replace the thrust bearing, clutch plates and cover. Or does something more serious have to happen, such as removal of the engine?
Also where can I/ should I source clutch components.

Disclaimer: DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THIS JOB!

I'm halfway though replacing the seals on my clutch slave cylinder and will be reassembling the car thisafternoon/evening/overnight in a bid to leave for Le Mans at 4am. I'm doing mine on small ramps (front) and axle stands (rear) but I'd thoroughly recomend blagging access to a proper garage lift for a weekend if you can. You can follow my misery here :

And ask for a release bearing. The thrust bearing is in the engine.

Brilliant, just what I needed. Although it's almost certainly a thrust bearing and not any of the seals. It grabs and releases while engaged.... and it's making enough noise to overpower the engine.

There is a thrust bearing in the engine? Never heard of one inside an engine before.

Also wondered if anyone knew if the 4.5 V8 (2003) had the multiplate clutch or not.

Difference in terminology I guess.
Everyone I've known runs thrust washers in engines. Thrust bearings as a clutch component, your release bearing.
