Hi Guys, have spotted to info dotted around on this but its a bit pacthy, so though i would bring it together in one the for the Tuscan.

Who has has it done?
What height did you raise it?
Car Spec? mk1 / mk2 / s etc
What does the spacer look like?
Difficult to install?
Made a noticable difference?
What does it do?

Easy to make? Templates anyone?

Done on my Tuscan Convertible (the uninformed may call it a Mark 2 smile ) by Heath Briggs at X-Works and re-do geometry set-up required at the same time (Laser Geo had been done before). I certainly have not the knowledge to do it myself.
Limited to 5mm additional spacer to that fitted by TVR, because hydraulic pipes would foul chassis.
Reason...Attempt to reduce bump steer, suspected cause of tendacy to dart into the kerb hitting uneven surface going into bends.... Which I'm convinced it has greatly improved. Had already fitted 225 tyres in the front.

Just had the STR8SIX bump steer modification on my 2006 Tuscan S Targa, not cheap, but quality parts used and it really does work well.

I have just had this done to mine, i reckon the total cost was about £200-£250 as it included

4x spacers, labour to fit and then some time re doing the geometry on the car ( i had also asked him to add a little more rear camber and add some more front castor) so obviously that will have added to the cost so with just the spacers and resetting to previous setting it may come to about £150

Whats my verdict? Well its quite hard to say whats happened with just that mod (added 10mm in height). As when i got the car it was dangerous and i mean dangerous, it felt like i was driving a bomb and every time i pressed the pedal it would go off (in literally any direction it seemed but usually towards a central reservation or kerb).

Before i had this mod done i had also done quite a bit to the car, geometry, tyres, splitter, gaz gold pro. Imo it was very good at this stage, it felt generally much safer than before, the bump steer wasn't horrific but it was there , my problem is every car i have ever had has had bump steer so i guess i am sort of used to it.

Now though it is very good to drive, it feels planted and much safer than even before, its not made a difference which you will notice just driving down the road but i think you will find yourself possibly noticing your not correcting the wheel after you hit a bump so in that respect it has made a difference but a subtle one- an improvement if you like.

My tuscan now feels simply awesome, just feels planted, stable and chuckable, it feels predictable now and not the feeling of driving an exploded bomb biglaugh

The only problem now is it maybe feels slower frown when i got the car i would floor it and have to fight the wheel, it would drag everywhere and it basically felt like i was driving something with about 600bhp, now though it doesnt do all that so feels slower which i suppose maybe a good thing as its so much more driveable. It is a fast car though i will say that much.

Sorry for the long post but i just came back from the running in service and its the first time i have driven a properly sorted un restricted tuscan and i am still buzzing smile

Thank for the feedback, sounds like its a good mod, but not night and day difference! Wonder what 'extra' you get from the str8 six bump steer mod?

I think maybe you could call it night and day in terms of the bumps no longer kick you about but because all your doing is making it how it should be its a non noticible thing iykwim

Think this might be next on my list to do

Yestetday got a new set of Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas

Wow...car is transormed
No longer wanders about on rutty roads and actually rides bumps without brown trouser moments
Had to be driven to be believed!
Have ggps already plus spacers
So just rack and geo to go

I think between the early models and the Tuscans produced later the steering arm length has changed. I have checked for bump steer on my late 2000 Tuscan and found that for most of the stravel it did no show any sign of bump steer just closed to full bup it started to toe out(!). Also my steering rake is very close, already close to touching, the oil lines to the heat exchanger on the left hand side of the car.
Just for confirmation I added 8mm spacers (M10 nuts) to shim the rake and as expected, bump steer became worse. So there might be some geometriecal changes between the models. In my case adding spacers would have made things worse. And, I do have the stock steering arms.

As well as the rack spacers the steering arms are also replaced for Sagaris items.

The rack was widened in 2001, to move the inner track rods in line with the lower wishbone pivot, and the track rods were shortened. Mine def suffered bump toe-in as standard.

They grip well too. I have much better rear traction than the previous GY F1s.
