I'll try posting this again as it didn't work out to well before

Round the local area there has been a spate of damageless break ins specifically to Audis all of which have had the airbags stolen. Last night my neighbours had their a3 done. We had a little run of damageless break ins last year which I put down to people leaving doors unlocked. No specific types of car were targeted although there were a lot done, maybe more than you would think would have been left open.

I understand there is a means of jamming lock signals on cars but where our houses are it would be very obvious if anyone was lurking about at tea time when they got in so it looks like these criminals have a way of getting in.

But why the airbags? Why would people want airbags in such large numbers? It's Wakefield area so any local Audi owners just watch out I guess.

Airbags are very expensive.

They'll be using them to rebuild squashed heaps they bought on Co-Parts

Cat C/D damage repairs. Even slow shunts will set off airbags which is one of the biggest expenses involved in getting such cars back on the road (and often the cause of the write off in the first place).

'Eliminating' that cost suddenly makes the repair more viable......

Expensive enough to be ignoring wheels and cats etc? The numbers involved are too high to be supplying for damaged cars too......

They are around £319

(not implying that one is stolen)

A cat can only be scrapped, even the biggest are less than £100 iirc and some don't have the right metals in them.
