Hi,

A few weeks ago i had to sell my gorgeous Noble M12 with 420bhp and 400ftlb due to needing to free up some cash! weeping

...but to ease the pain i have managed to complete a deal on a beautiful E46 Silver M3 cab with SMG, Nav, H.K. Stereo, 19's etc and one owner from new!

This does help ease the pain a bit and i'm looking forward to owning a BMW again. I used to have an E30 325i Sport Hartge which was lovely and i still miss the sound that it made.

There is one thing that i would like to change about the car and that is the interior trim colour from Black to Brushed Ali finish. Where would be best to get this from please?

Also, where is best to get new matts?

Oh, and one last thing.... any tips with the SMG box?

Thanks in advance.

Ross

Reference the SMG, most people stick it in S5 and use throttle pedal modulation on higher rev shifts (to avoid clunks and excessive shudering).

I have given S4 the benefit of the doubt for about 3 months, but changed to S5 the other day and it is a far better change at circa 2-4K revs even without easing off the throttle.

Hope this helps.

That's great thank you. Do you use the sport button too?

No, only once i think.

I am in the camp of "if you want more power, press the throttle pedal more".

Having said that, it does make the car feel more frisky, so possibly is good if you want the car to seem like it did the first time you drove it again...

I always used to run in S3 and use S5 mode for hooning only - the gear shift feels brutal in S5.

I start off in A2/S2, once warmed up nicely then S3/S4, rarely feel the need for S5 TBH. Enjoy it!

S5 all the time apart from crawling in traffic.

As someone else said, tiny lift before changing up gets rid of the jolt in the back.

I only use the auto-shifting when there is a chinese takeaway on the passenger seat that needs some support.

Well, picked her up today but sat in 3 hours of crawling traffic and pouring rain! frown

Anyway, managed to have some fun on the last few miles of the journey near where i as it's in the countryside!

I will post some pictures when it stops raining!
