New to PH | Going from e39 to D3 A8

We all have to start somewhere! I have floated for some time, reading up on reviews, seeing peoples snotters, pojects and just everyday threads.

I currently own a 2000 BMW 528i sport, and in the market to change it for a 2003-05 A8, either 3tdi or 4tdi, 4.2 petrol being last resort. Hopefully ill have £9k to spend, i have seen some failry good ones on about 80k miles for 8-9k so im hopeful.

My son is currently on my policy with me as we work together, makes economical sense.

Being 21, it puts me premium to £2000 on the 3tdi, or £2500 on the 4tdi, with Churchill.

So anyway just saying hello, and intend to get involved with the forum and website as a whole over the coming months.

Btw, the reason i will be selling is because the common ABS module problem has surfaced. the ABS, DSC and brake light are all on (most of the time) so I need to sort that to get it through MOT, then i want rid.

Old cars are great if they are kept in the garage for special occasions, not for everyday work!

I'll upload a picture or 2 of her in a few minutes, she is beautiful.

Shame she is an MOT fail due to what ever ABS sensor is duff.

Will get around to it before sale.

Any heads up as to where i can find an A8 specific thread or forum. I searched PH but it throws up few results, and there doesnt appear to be a good Audi forum, in the same way there is bimmerforums for BM, Vauxhall, Ford etc..

Seems 04/05 have plenty of things that can go wrong.

Guess anything with lots of computers and electronics will.

Just spent £150 to have my ABS module repaired so i hope this solves the ABS/DSC/brake light issue!

Did you send the module to BBA Reman or whatever they're called? I had the same with my E38 740 sport but bought a 2nd hand unit from an indy garage instead of the rebuild option.

ETA: it's my 740'th post as well. Freaky deaky morning

Module master and BBA are the most known. I just sent it to some company through eBay

Located in Derbyshie, 2600 feedback @ 100% all they specialise in is ABS modules for various cars.

£158 incl postage.

Further to the ABS thing, i took it out earlier to send off, but i needed bubble wrap and a padded envelope, so had to make the 4 mile return journey to ASDA. No ABS obviously, no speedo, no MPG ometer, no fuel ometer, no mileage guage and no sense of control really. Only plus side is those 4 miles aren't recorded on the vehicle.

I will not be doing it again until the ABS unit is back in and fixed!
