Bromley Pageant of Motoring

Any PH'ers going? This Sunday 12th June. Biggest 1 day classic car show in the world. Near Bromley in Kent. We have 9 cars on a SouthernKitCarClub stand, come and say hi if you go. In fact, the general admission classic car park is better than the show stands, everyone wheels out their old classics from the garage and you spend half your time going "I haven't seen one of those for years!"
I'll be there too. Really should get a PH baseball cap or something!
Actually hoping the weather keeps the crowds down a bit - the last couple of years its been a bit too busy IMHO with the funfair side of things seeming to take over a bit.
Plus if it's damp at least I won't get sunburned!

Most disappointing thing for me was not the weather (which was bearable between 11 and 2), but the fact that is seemed almost identical to the show last year and the year before. Same cars, same stands, same overpriced entrance fee for what is now a pretty commercial show.
Luckily I had free tickets this year or I probably wouldn't have gone, but I can't see me going again any time soon, which is a shame as I grew up going there every year as a kid and have always loved it.
Can someone tell me why bog standard Mk5/6 Escorts and Fiestas get any room at what is meant to be a "classic" car show? And what's with the display of Renault Megane Scenics?
Disappointed I'm afraid.

Admittedly I've never been to one before but thought it was quite a good day, despite the weather's best attempts to ruin everything. What wasn't so great though was getting out of the public carpark at the end of the day. The exit was through a gap in the fence, so everyone had been driving exactly the same path, digging two massive furrows with a huge mound of mud in between. Whilst grip wasn't a problem for me (got to love 4WD in these situations!), I wasn't so keen on the huge mountain of mud I managed to scrape up with my front splitter. Next time I'm going out the entrance!

Yeah, I forgot that! My wife went separately so she could have a quick look round but not be stuck there all day, took my MX-5, and I spent half an hour in the rain yesterday evening scooping handfuls of mud out of the arches and hosing lumps of mud off the diff and suspension components

Quite agree too many old bangers (not classics )too expensive entrance ,nightmare trying to get out and the price of the tasteless food was absolute rip off .The organisers need to sort out these rip off merchants . the food stalls had obviously got together and fixed the prices because they was all the same.Would i go again-not a chance . would go to another that is a proper car show not a sunday market with only few decent cars .
Was there from 10.30 to 1.30 and in spite of the rain and a few gaps in the club areas I still enjoyed the sight of some classic rarities. Hats off to the exhibitors who weren't afraid to bring their prized machine out in the wet. My pal and I timed our 1.30 escape to perfection as one exit point was indeed becoming two deep furrows. Another two hours would have been impassable in anything other than a Range Rover.

We braved the elements with 6 cars on a stand with a gazebo full off coffee and fortunately a couple of beers. Its one of those shows where the weather can make or break it, and yes there was several s
tters of cars on display. Some like the collecting Marinas and Itals I can understand as they bring back memories for people, but there were quite a lot of chavved up nastiness there. But ultimately these events are driven by enthusiasts and if that what is being driven around south london then thats what will turn up... But i like the fact youngsters are driving them to these shows as they are the future of classic car ownership. The best part of Bromley is "local" peole bringing their pride and joy classics out for an airing, and pointing saying "I have not seen one of those for ages!". The weather affected that this year definately.
If displaying you get a 3-car pitch with entrance for 3 cars and 6 people for just £15, which is very good value. But I heard I think £14 for an adult entrance ticket ??? TOTALLY disgraceful to walk around a public park. Should be no more than £8 per adult and under 16's free. It's the same with all the shows now, I am old enough to know you could used to go to a show and pick up cheap bits, and most traders doing show discounts etc. But nowdays its where they make most of their money, and as I walked round you can almost feel invisible hands going into your pockets relieving you of every last penny! there was even one stall selling Australian hats!!
