More of a rant than anything else, but driving back today I came across this:



For those that can't see, it is the council's efforts of resurfacing a road, which basically involves chucking some stones down on it and leaving it for everyone to drive over!

We pay god knows how much in tax, and this is how they resurface a road?? Bloody dangerous too, as the idiot behind me in a Ford Kuga came rocketing up to me going at 10mph (posted speed limit, and I don't want to scratch my car) and almost went into the back of me because he thought he could do 60 mph over it!

Just as well, there was an unmarked car at the end looking to catch people going too fast over it.

FFS why can't the council fix a road properly??

It's called 'redressing' and it's inevitably done when it's either very wet, or mid winter. Both of which pretty much ensure that all it will achieve are several dozen broken windscreens and not alot else.

Annoying as hell, I agree. The problem is it stays that way for ages too. Then....just when you thought it was safe, some truck kicks up all the chippings that have been brushed to the side.

It is insane! I hate to think what my stopping distance from 60 would have been in these conditions.

Also why do people insist on driving fast through them?

When I had my company car for work last year I was going through one of them and the idiot coming the other way was hammering along and spat stones all over the side of my brand new Focus

As a biker I used to love this stuff because it ensures that the kerb area was really grippy in icy conditions however as a car driver I hate this st with a passion, I'm torn!

There's a lot of it about here too (surrey). It's bad enough in the car, but on a bike it's bloody lethal as you tend to sit in between the car wheel tracks, and the loose gravel is very slippery.
It achieves precisely the square root of sod all too - the potholes are still there, but half an inch higher up.
They've done a few times on the main road by my place, to the point where the kerb is now only two inches above the road surface. I thought that the kerb was there to afford a small amount of protection to pedestrians to stop vehicles mounting the pavements in accidents and so forth. That ain't going to happen now.
In addition, the goons that actually do it just spray the tar over everything - inspection covers, catseyes - the lot. My wife works for fire and rescue and they keep covering over fire hydrants too.
All in all, it's a total disaster and a complete waste of money.

Well it was an official idea so i recon a tt who either don't drive or is mentaly diabled (window licker) but got the job under the equall opertunatys sceme whereby we are forced to feel sorry for the less advantaged and give them jobs where they can really fk up instead of just making simple little mistakes in charity shops.
In my world PC stands for Phucking crap
