Since I'm back in the area for the next year, working at McLaren in Woking, I'll need a more sensible car than the track-spec MX5 (which my Dad is buying and I'll still have use of).
I have £4k to spend on something I can use everyday. Needs to be reliable, have 4 seats or more, cruise well on the motorway and still be fun. Preferably 35mpg + too.
Been looking at BMW 330i, 320d, Skoda Octavia and Fabia VRS.
Also considered an original supercharged Mini Cooper S.
Lets see what you lot come up with.

From your list, most fun would be the
MCS, easy and cheap mod to get a reliable 220bhp too.... But it'll really hit you on fuel. I averaged 18mpg ony daily commute (backroads) so add in some motorway and town and maybe it'd get 25ish.
What about a lupo gti or a focus st170 if u need something bigger?
I've been really impressed with the Focus I've borrowed for a while!!
Edited to add: can u really get 200bhp out of fabia Vrs?!!

^^^^ above all look good - however 330D with only 65k miles seems a bit low... it might be a clocker ... or it could be a good buy.

Go for a remapped 320d, I didnt find the 330Ci much faster to be honest, I also found the car a little livlier, newer rack, plus less nose weight
320D 185hp & 390nm 36-48mpg (Scotland 18-22mpg) max 144
330i 248hp & 325nm 24-32mpg (run 12-18mpg) max 155ish
Different drives, but dont under estimate the 320d, but do get an M-Sport 6.
Also clean out the EGR valve if you go D.
As to a 330d the fuel/performance ratio didnt work out v's a remapped 320d

Got a 330d in the end for just over 3k Go for a remapped 320d, I didnt find the 330Ci much faster to be honest, I also found the car a little livlier, newer rack, plus less nose weight
