C Class - Where To Buy

I am thinking of parting with my hard earned money for a C Class 07/08 plate.

I only do around 10,000 miles a year, so am thinking of going for the C180 Sport.

I have done a bit of research, seems like there are many types of the 180k

Am I best off buying from Mercedes Approved Used? Any other options?

I would like some sort of warranty as £17k/18k is a lot of money for me. Would also need FSH

Have read a lot of negative things about Car Giant

I was thinking more along the lines of a MB Independent specialist.

Mercedes Direct (or Retail Used Cars as they are now calling themselves) is probably the best option. Its almost like a MB-UK owned car supermarket, lots of stock to choose from mostly at reasonable prices a bit cheaper than the main dealers. All backed with a Mercedes 1-year warranty.

Bought my current Merc from them 3 years ago. Most cars are ex MB staff cars and are usually very well spec'd with leather, COMAND etc, at cheaper prices than franchised dealerships.

Yes

They have started indicating this on the website now, the ex-MB UK vehicles are listed as 'MK stock' as in the Milton Keynes head office.

I saw the MK stock on the website and wondered what it was. First thoughts were Milton Keynes but I couldn't figure out what the hell Milton Keynes had to do with MB.

I'm looking at getting a C180 Sport. Can't see too many with extras on the site, except for maybe Parktronic?

I haven't bought a car for years, would I have much room to haggle?

You should be able to get some discount of those prices, but how much depends on the margin they have on that vehicle, and whether you have a P/X. A C180 Sport is unlikely to have lots of options, its the bigger models where things like COMAND and full leather etc become more important.

Thanks again. Have looked at diesel but do less than 12k a year so think a 180 will suit.

No P/X, which should help me haggle hopefully

On that site the Park Royal branch have a 2010 silver C180k sport with only 15k miles and full COMAND (sat nav with linguatronic, HDD, music register etc), half leather up for £18,990 - bet you could get that down within your £18k limit without too much difficulty.
