Do we really have to have adverts attacking us when perusing. Made me jump and would potentially upset some bosses?

It was the Continental Tyres add. Video and Audio on General Gassing.

You could always turn the sound off when at work to avoid upsetting the bosses.

fortunately I am the boss, but other people have bosses who are not so understanding.

I like having the audio on for what I choose to listen to, and do not liked sneaky adds assaulting me without request.

Ads should not have audio AFAIK.

We have rules regarding ads with sound, that they're not allowed. Unfortunately, most of PH is down at Le Mans this weekend so as the new guy I'm a bit powerless to do anything about it at the moment.

I will let Stuart know about this on Monday and I'm certain he'll get them removed as soon as possible.

For our reference, which specific thread was the ad served on? A URL would be handy.
