Does anyone know which bolts to undo to release the power steering belt on a 400SE. I cannot see a slider mechanism to release, unlike the alternator. Any ideas would be welcome.

If it's the same pump as the 390 it has three bolts on the front, behind the pulley. One's the pivot, the other two clamp it in place.

As I recall I had to take almost all 3 off before the pump moved enough to take off/put the new one on.

Thanks for the info guys. There are three bolts on the front but I just wasn't sure which one to undo as I can't see a slider. If the middle one is the pivot, then I'll try to undo the outer two first and see if it shifts. Otherwise I may have to remove all three. It's really the alternator belt I need to change but I need to remove the power steering belt to get to it. I'll have a go at he weekend. Thanks again.

On mine the pivot is the highest of the three - at top right, if you will, as viewed from front of the car. Mine has the pump mounted high up, I know some are low down so the bracket will be different.

Thanks Wedg1e. Now you're making me think, because by pump is mounted high up, unlike some I,ve seen much lower down. I will bear this in mind when I tackle the job. Maybe the pivot is the top one on mine too.
