Careful on where you speed with unmarked police cars

Probably too late as no doubt most there or en route, but mates in R8 V10 and Gallardo spyder just been done by the unmarked gendarmes. He's not happy especially as it's raining too.

Sorry for the off-topic, but what happens when caught by a fixed roadside camera? Me and my mate are positive one flashed as we passed at IIRC 97kph in a 90kph limit...

My understanding is once you have left France there is no reciprocal arrangement with UK authorities. Watch the sector to the last toll that's where they normally hang out. Good luck

Anyone see the police man dressed in camoflage gear operating a radar gun on the road from Rouen to Calais. I didn't see him until I passed him but guess he wasn't worried about me in a 4x4 travelling at the legal limit!

On the way there (Thursday) and on the way back (after the race, Sunday) we didn't see a single Police Car or La Bacon Man

They have so many people so scared to speed now by rumour, they don't need to enforce it would appear.

Camouflage man was there this morning, approx 25 miles north of Rouen, no sign of Gendarmes near him but there were about a dozen on motorbikes a junction or two earlier.

Anyone get caught by the radar on the dual carriageway just north of Alencon on Friday morning? Was a signifigant operation as at the end of the presumably man-operated radar gun on the dual, there were about 6 gengermes on bikes and 2 vans in a side road waving in offenders! I copped for 90 euros for doing 143 (90mph) in the 110 (70mph)zone)in yellow Elise...first time in 14 visits to Le Mans so not a bad average cost I suppose! Had just put a spurt on to get ahead of a green e-type and red 3.8S Jags; whilst being booked in came a red Renault V6 GTA and blue Golf(?) supposedly doing exactly the same speed....the gendermes had the speeds written in inkl on the backs of their hands and were receiving calls relating to the coluor of the offenders cars on their radios! The 3 or 4 blsck Porsches travelling in convoy with them seemed to escape as presumably couldn't be differentiated!
Ah well...didn't spoil a great weekend tho.....

My understanding is that it has changed and there is a reciprocal agreement, but cash only not points. This was mentioned in the RLM podcasts leading up to LM.

I did, the French clown in the Peugeot who was trying to climb into my boot when I slowed down clearly didn't. Although he was a tad more circumspect after we cruised past at 130kph

I think it's only us (UK) that says speed detection must be accompanied by flashing lights/ bells and whistles and fluroescent stickers. Everywhere else it is tough luck.

I hardly saw any rozzers in France as it goes.. but then I kept my speed right down....

... after getting busted on the way to the tunnel on the M20! Sods law, 7:30AM and on a Sunday!

well my view for what it is worth...

lots of visable police on the roads, lights bells and all - we all can see them so therefore you are totally mad and deserve what you get if you speed - this visable policing ensures we all aresafe and sound and the police have done there job of PREVENTION.

hiding in bushes, on bridges, unmarked cars is not prevention at all - some people will thinks its all clear and give it the beans - then out they pop....its all about revenue generation not ensuring safe driving manners
