Why do they come so close?
Got a lovely bit of bus dirt on my shoulder from where i got rubbed, very very lucky to stay up as it was either bus or railings, gave the driver my opinion later on down the road when I caught him up, but have since forgot the route number and reg to forward a what would be probably waste of time complaint, and receipt for new grunderpants.

Had one come very close to me this morning.
Gave the driver the 'long look' as I went past up the road.
It was a while before he overtook me again, albeit with a nice bit of extra room.
What can you do?

Had my arm given a whack by a bus overtaking as I was indicating right.

Wrote to the bus company giving the route number, time and location. No response.

A few days ago I had one come right up behind me, almost touching my wheel. Not sure why. I made sure he knew what I thought.

Buses (or more accurately their drivers) are not all bad! I know that my experience in rural Essex is far removed from the usual urban nightmare, but I came off my (new) bike shortly after buying it last November. The 'off' did not involve another vehicle, but was caused by contamination (oil or diesel?) on the surface and my inappropriate speed into a right hand turn at a crossroads. The accident happened at dusk, and the first vehicle to pass was a bus, just as I was picking myself up. This driver didn't stop, but the next driver was in one of those smaller buses beloved of local 'independent' operators. He stopped, and his first concern was for my well being, and he even asked if the first bus had caused my crash! He didn't drive on until I had assured him that I was fine, and he shielded the scene with his vehicle until I had retrieved my bike and the light, which had parted company with its bracket, from the road. What restored my faith in human nature even more was that, whilst I collected my faculties and checked myself and the bike to make sure that all their parts were present and correct at the side of the road, every subsequent car driver stopped to ask if I was OK, and a Mercedes Benz driver even offered a lift. All this despite the fact that when riding on B roads in the area you get the feeling that every third vehicle is attempting to kill you!
