I recently sold my Civic Type R and in all honesty it was not a overly impressive car (sounded good in vtec though)

£10,000 is the budget however my car history is that i previously has a saxo VTS lowered and big brakes etc that was a fun little car to hoot about in, then i had a fiesta ST with the 185bhp kit which was good then i moved onto the civic. i loved the vts for its cornering, the civic for its vtec-ing... is there a car that combines the two or not? iv been trawling PH all day the closest i found was a supercharged civic type r with all the modifications on it? or should i try a subaru impreza WR1 or something completly different?

any ideas?

for 10k wont that be a dog? beside i love the look of the T350

tbh its a daily - so a TVR isn't excatly appropiate... i could live with the likes of a s2000 though - a blend of the VTS with the vtec engine = what though?

Or an S2000 for vtec and cornering. You can always supercharge it if you get bored smile

Try something different. Maybe RWD. MX-5, S2000, 350Z.

You'll learn a new driving style and it'll be loads of fun!

yeah i did think of that... RWD / 4WD

s2000 is heading my list at the moment but im worried it'll be a bit like the civic type r in terms of speed ? i'd prefer to buy an already supercharged s2000 though

I have two Honda fanatic friends. One has a mildly fettled EP3 Civic Type R and the other has a standard 2005 S2000.

The S2000 is much, much quicker.

200sx is a good shout! cheap to buy... hmm i wouldn't mind a classic shape scooby either... the problem is i know FWD and only have had FWD, never have tried RWD/4WD so i dont really know what i want and i can't just go and tyre kick someone's RWD car to see if its any good.

A Celica GT4 would be great. Get a good one and look after it. It should be a hoot, 4WD and a nice turbo. I remember it being compared to the Escort Cosworth. Miles cheaper though, and well worth looking at.

My 200sx is is my first RWD. Prior to that I had only FWD - in fact I used to pine after a Civic Type-R but since moving away from small hatches I've never really wanted to go back.
However, the 200sx definitely requires extra care and attention in the wet and one MUST have quality tyres. Great fun though!

To add, I do have a little 207 for short/city journeys which I don't enjoy driving but is cheap to run and fine for OH.

Much.

I'm talking about how it feels from the driver's seat. I just looked at the performance figures on Parkers and they're fairly similar on paper (6.4 vs 6.0 secs 0-60mph), but in actuality they're very different.

Drive one, see what you think. Both are noticeably faster feeling than my car and I personally don't like how hard the suspension on either is, but if you're considering upgrading from a CTR and you want better handling whilst maintaining the frantic revability (new word) of the V-Tec the S2000 seems like a logical progression; assuming that you don't need more than two seats, that is.

hmm i am not too sure, i'v been a passenger in a s2k but never actually driven one... the s2k looks like a logical progression but is it enough of a upgrade? i cant justify the insurance cost for the power on a s2k to be fair... it is quite shocking imo

S2000 has circa 240bhp and rear wheel drive and is definately a lot quicker than a type r. Sound lovely with the right induction kit too.

Just for reference the type r isnt that fast compared to a lot of other similarly priced cars ie focus st,astra vxr and is more expensive to tune to bigger bhp although with a supercharger they are very fast once moving.

EP3 type r's are much cheaper to buy than st/vxr's but yes they are more expensive to obtain bhp out of.

i think i'll go for a supercharged EP3 type r with all the modifications done to it. mine was on standard suspension and handled ok-ish not as good as the vts albeit a supercharged one with LSD and coilovers and what not should be good in comparision and can go quick whilist being reasonable on insurance.

the S2K is lovely but i cant justify it being group 20, its still only a 2.0 n/a

the hunt for a supercharged ep3 type r begins i guess, if not i'll try the S2K - i can see some JDM ones being quite cheap... whats the difference between a UK and JDM?

No, a Chimaera at £10k will be excellent. Oh and they're daily cars. TVRs don't like being sat there doing nothing.
