Looking at the Z4M C and looking for views on dealer prices v private.

I've came across similar spec'd, age and mileage cars. The dealer is wanting approx 3k more for there model.

How much more is the AUC warranty worth (and I suppose additional peace of mind).

I seem to remember being able to get BMW insured warranty on my E46 M3 as it manufacturer warranty expired for approx £700/year... Though this may be a different situation if the existing warranty has expired. A £3k premium sounds quite chunky to me.

The AUC warranty is nearly as good as a new car warranty.

I would only ever buy a newish BMW as an AUC, especially M cars.

Same here. Warranty was well worth it on my old Z3M coupe.

AUC warranty includes BMW (Mondial) breakdown cover as well.

I've had 2 BMW's with AUC warranties and they haven't questioned any of the work I've requested, I'd say well worth it.

It has been known to negotiate 2 years AUC warranty when buying a car if it will seal a deal. wink

on a z4m? i've never noticed them on mine.

Dont laugh but my knob doesnt shine as bright as it might once have. Can i get this replaced under the AUC warrenty.

Oh and to the OP i've just had a o2 sensor changed. i've had mine 2 months and would of winced at the cost of the Master M mech guy at Edinburgh was to charge me for the job. Its not only the big things that cost money its all those inspections, sensor changes that can add up (or at least how i justified buying mine from a M dealer)

Interesting.... i was told in no uncertain terms that they couldnt give me a second year for less than that i would pay if i turned up at the counter. Saying that i got a nice discount on the car to counter my worries about year 2 ownership. i.e. new rears, tax, insurance and warrenty (in my head its going to tot up to 2.5+k)

The AUC warranty is certainly good, however it's not worth £3k. You can take out the BMW (Mondial) warranty yourself for less than £1k.

I thought you could only take out the BMW Insured Warranty if the car is already under warranty? I.e., if it lapses, it's no longer an option?

So would therefore depend if the current owner of the car you're looking at has got any of the original 3 years warranty or any extended BMW Insured Warranty remaining...

This is not the case. If the warranty has lapsed 'you' can still take out a BMW insured warranty.

I don't believe that is correct. Once its lapsed, you can't renew.

Give BMW Warranty a call and ask them, TEL: 02086669204.

You will pay an inflated premium if the warranty has lapsed for the first year but no issues taking out a warranty, it is afterall just an insurance policy.................
