How to warm up the rear tyres

Hi all,
I'm taking the Cerb to a drag event tomorrow and I'm trying to work out the best way to warm up the rear tyres. Obviously I can just dump the clutch and give it full beans before my run but I don't fancy bumping it off the limiter in first if there is a better technique. Any thoughts/advice?

It won't have a massive impact on your launch if you don't do a burn out, as the Cerb is tricky to launch regardless of how warmed up your tyres might be.
If you can brave it then spin the wheels up just before your run like most of the other cars try to do.
The trick is in the launch so you'll need a couple of goes to get it "right".

Over the years I've seen various arguments for not doing a burnout on 'road' tyres as it actually makes them more slippery (something to do with the silicone content).
Not sure how true it is, but I usually don't bother with the burnout and try to drive around the watered down section as you enter the strip..

I've got an oldish set of Toyos on the rear I need to replace. You mean T1Rs not R888's then i guess.
Yes just a mild wheelspin to clean them off will do.
Drop the rear pressures to 18psi also.... this will give you a much bigger 'footprint' on the startline.
Also make sure the fronts are up to normal pressure at least.
After that its just a case of practice to find that sweet spot on launch with minimal wheelspin if any and some slick gearchanges. No need to hit the rev limiter neither... use the torque. May the torque be with you.

Yes I did mean T1Rs. The torque was with me alright - too much at times!! It was a bugger getting the power down in first - tried short shifting and giving it the beans and oddly enough a heavy right foot seemed to work better. Yes just a mild wheelspin to clean them off will do.

I got four runs in before the rain started and ate a Carrera 4s for breakfast - will definitely be doing it again.
The Cerb got a huge amount of attention - not bad for a 13 year old car!
I was up at crail today Banzi day best i ran was a 13.025 @110.3mph i recon if i could get a few more runs in i would break the 12s worst run was my first 15.187 with a reaction time of 1.306 secs lol lots of tyre smoke and no go. only had 5 runs and was just getting in to it but it was a very busy day.
Should have dropped the tyre pressures a bit as well as there quit hard just now but will break the 12's next time. video from my best run (still room for a better launch) the Cerb is pretty had to launch i was using around 3k to pull off. (4.2 ajp cerb)

Certainly into the 12's for next time.
Now dont go getting addicted.
Oh and when you find the grip you should get a 1.9 at least to 60 foot and you will see maybe 0.5 off your ET, so a 12.5.... nice.

Yeah the Tyres where at 28 psi in the rear as i was carrying a good load in the boot the weekend before and never lowered them again so i guess that was not helping. The first run i did was in the right hand lane and it was awful surface very bumpy so made sure i got the left on the other 4 runs. won 3 out of 5 runs, mx5 turbo beat me it was running mid 12's and messed my first run up but beat the same car on 2 other runs it was a 300zx thing v6 twin turbo and beat him by a good sec and a half. all in good fun day sunburned to a crisp, now where is that drift oval next time. Certainly into the 12's for next time.
