Must do - Deutsches Museum is pretty good.
HofBrau Haus for a large beer, fantastic.

If your stuck try the brewery tour that leaves from the train station, English
speaking and a chance to get a mini tour of the breweries in the town, history and
sample the beers/ bite to eat.

You do like beer I take it? smile

Not that I noticed but your only a short train hop to Dachau concentration camp which
does tours. Never managed to get there when I was working nearby but always wanted to go.
Check out the tour place in the train station as mentioned previously.

Even if your not a drinker, if you want to see WW2 history you'll still want to go to
HofBrau Haus. Basically where it all started! Have a close look at the fancy murals on
the ceiling, very ornate but you can still make out the swastikas that have been painted around.
It was Adolf's local, where he started the Nazis.

Just have a pretzel, which are nice, just not as good as the beer!

Lovely part of the world. You may need to do the WW2 stuff yourself, the Germans aren't big on Nazi tourism...

ENGLISH - You'll be OK in the cities and with the Yung-uns...
A backstreet coffee shop with a little old lady serving might cause you some trouble.

Munich is a lovely city - best if the sun is shining, plenty to do and see..
Try Regensburg further north, historic city for a day out.

In my experience I have found English spoken by a surprisingly wide variety of people and places in Germany, particularly in the city. You aren't likely to have a great issue getting about and buying/ordering stuff as Munich is pretty well visited by other nationalities where English is used as a common language.

It goes without saying that learning and using some of the German basics (even just hello, goodbye, please, thankyou) helps a great deal in breaking the ice and engaging with people.

Unlike the ignorant arse of an account manager I used to visit Hamburg with who would speak to everyone he met in broad cockney English expecting them to understand him, and incredibly most waiters etc were far too polite to ignore him.

I got around fine, best bet is just go to the kiosk, they always spoke better English than
my German.

Another vote for BMW museum.

And if you like Mexican food, 'El Gordo Loco' restaurant is a must.

Took Mrs TR7V8 a few years ago. Do Hofbrauhaus, if feeling flush then Restaurant 181 in the Olympic Tower is amazing, fantastic food & it rotates once every 47 minutes, so you get a view of Munich.
BMW World is OK, BMW museum is closed Monday....
Did the Dachau tour with a guide, fantastic but very, very sobering & a lot of walking. Lots of other trips to do, Black Forest etc.
Go to the railway station & get a rover ticket for the public transport system U & S Bahn & trams. It was peanuts & covers all your travel. AFAIK it was 16 Euro for both of us for 3 days.
