Aberdeen to Lincoln??

Hi all,
I am doing a course in Aberdeen from the 27/6-2/7 I will be heading down to Lincoln area on the Sunday.
Are there any Ph'er heading in that direction on the Sunday? I can imagine you think I am a cheeky t
t for asking, it is not because I am tight. I am too young to rent a car and I would rather not spend several hours on a train full of chavs.
Obviously, petrol money, beer token ome sort of payment will be rewarded!

Upgrade to 1st class on the train? Don't think it's too expensive £5-20 on top of a journey costing c.£100 is nothingFree tea, biccies and wifi, oh and no chavs.
If it was a week earlier I'd have been driving edinburgh->norwich, ho hum.
If it's price that's the concern then try megabus. Bear in mind that megabus has a more cretinous population than the trains though.
When I was younger - in the early '90s - I used to hitchhike for journeys like the one you have. I was always picked up within 30 mins, and generally by nice, interesting people in decent cars. The golden rules for me were:
1. Research your spot for pick-ups carefully in advance, and make a sign if you can
2. Look reasonably smart and not smelly - decent clothes and have a shave. Don't scowl at drivers!
3. Be good at making conversation, although chances are you won't need to be. Most drivers who picked me up were bored and wanted someone to chat to.
4. Carry a map, so you know the best place to be dropped off. I once agreed to be dropped off at the A127 / M25 junction, and it was my only hitching failure: ended up walking to the nearest tube station.
I can honestly say I never felt threatened or worried, and hopefully the guys (and gals!) who picked me up felt the same.
If hitching is a bit too 'hardcore' you could always look at:

or similar sites. I've never used them in the UK, but Germany has had this concept for years, and I used to use Mitfahrzentralen as a passenger and a driver all the time. Works a treat. Good luck!
