What would you do....?

In a nutshell; work done by a local firm on my brakes, necessary to get it through the MOT. Work included one new caliper and new retaining clips to keep the pads in place. Car gets through MOT (they are testers).
A few weeks later, said brake pings apart (clips fly off, pads move out) whilst on the move - result is no braking at all and I roll onto the roundabout I was approaching at about 20mph; not up onto the circular bit in the middle, but into the lanes coming round, which were thankfully free of traffic.
A call to the garage, they come and collect the car to repair and promise to return the following day. Now, I'm being pretty sanguine as I figure losing my rag won't achieve anything at this point - they should realise how serious this is. I realise how serious it is - the previous week my wife had been using the car on her daily 75 mile round trip commute on the A31, M27 and M3. I shudder to think what would have happened if the brakes had gone then.
Anyway, the following day no car returned so I phone them - no answer. The following morning on my way out I call and get through; "sorry we ran out of time yesterday I'll drop it on your drive today". Now I'm getting pissed off as there is no abject apology, no recognition that somebody might have died and no offer in any way of a gesture of goodwill. This latter happened on Friday and I returned too late to visit them that afternoon and I was out from very early-doors on Saturday.
So what is the general collective opinion on how to approach this tomorrow morning? My thougts are to go round there calmly and ask sensible questions, and probably demand my original service bill to be paid back after making them fully aware that my wife might have died - in which case they all would probably have done so too.
Any point getting trading standards involved, wither before my visit or after?
I'm generally not sure how to approach this as it is the first time that anything like this has ever happened.
