Samsung LE40A856 Sound Failure

2.5 year old TV, still works on freeview fine, but any HDMI input has lost sound.
I've checked the settings and all seems in order.

Is this a common issue with Samsungs ? my own set is over twice that age and still works fine.

Any ideas on likelyhood of a fix ? I assume a processor had died.
Any recommendations for someone who can fix is also welcome!

Could you use the phono or optical out for sound if all else fails?
