Do you mean 'the Stella Bar' as we call it at Tetre Rouge, just outside the circuit? Been rumoured for years that it was closing. It's a sad day if it's finally gone. Many many happy hours spent in there over the years and even managed to sneak up onto the top of the Mulsanne out the back of the bar
Yep - seemed to be loads of changes since I was last there a few years ago.
Embankments on the inside of Tertre Rouge all dug up to make more campsite area and an Arena bulding of some sort. They've added loads of lighting here too, so less of a night time spectacle with the cars screaming in with glowing brake discs.
Roads around Houx Annexe have been made more "civilised" it seemed to me, with fencing both sides. And where did the little roundabout go?

and the bar on top of the panaromic restaurant is now corporate hostility only.... And then there was the viewing area just beyond the dunlop bridge that is now the ACO enclosure. Dont get me started on the floodlights - Arnage and Terte Rouge now ruined.
Oh and there is also the new Rule that allows French teams that are being lapped to run the leader off the circuit and brake test them through the corners

I take it you mean the bar on the level crossing at Arnage station? we got done just south of Bernay on the back round on friday. Policeman hiding in a bush on a roundabout clocked us doing 137k's in a 90 limit. 90 Euro fine but the ones in front got 750 euro and a ban.
Got back on the motorway and there were policeman mixed in with the locals waving on bridges!

Some of the antics I have seen make me feel ashamed to be British at times.
Been going for 25 years and only ever been stopped once after going on a red by mistake, got a telling off but no fine in my opinion they are doing their job right.

Agreed. People seem to think it's OK to go way over the speed limit when in France, but wouldn't dare to do the same around the M25 on the way home. When the French come here, should they assume they'll be let off if they cruise in convoy at 100mph+ on the M1?ts!You wouldn't do it at home or would you???

OK, so the police may take advantage of the extra cars breaking the law during LM, but if you don't give them the ammo they can't nick you.
We've got nothing but the highest praise for all the french we've met this year as usual.
We drove up from Spain and the first gendarmes we saw were at the end of the route de heronniere blocking the road off. After the race we were in the queue out of Heronniere car park which joined the queue from Camping Bleu. It was gridlocked as the road to Arnage was blocked off. THe gendarme at the barrier got on his phone and 15 minutes later they removed the barriers and we all headed down to Arnage. We were in the B and B Hotel the far side of Super U by just after 4 o'clock.
I'm now in Bordeaux and we've just passed our first speed trap in 8 days. We were warned by drivers coming the other way so all slowed down to 50 through the village.It sounds like all the gendarmes were between Le Mans and the Channel ports as we never saw any.

the locals, aside from the above, are very friendly and I've never felt not welcome
I've had no issue with them other than when I have my car a stab .of loud pedal through the bridge out of the circuit under the start of the mulsanne straight.. next thing I know I have police infront of me pointing me in.. capping myself he just checked docs and was back on my way.
I think if your caught doing 50mph over the limit you can't argue having your pants taken down.
