I've done a search but no real insight.

Does anyone have any experience of problems with the W12 either in its VAG application or in a Bentley? Would be interested, not least because the W8 in the Passat appeared fragile

From the lack of response I deduce that it is an utterly impregnable design, setting new standards in precision engineering for road cars!

Had mine for just over 18 months and not had one single problem. But is now going up for sale.

I've worked at an Audi dealer for 6 years. Working on all sorts from a 5 cylinder quatro to the latest R8 V10's new A6 A7 and A8.

Still have never seen a W12.

We've only got one customer with a W12; in recently for a routine service and minor (non engine related) electrical gremlins.

Many thanks Gents. On this 'straw poll' basis it seems to be a very good unit. Electrical issues can take a while to track down but they're not as expensive as a major engine problem are they?!

I think I read recently of a chap who bought a Bentley Continental which required a new loom following electrical gremlins........cost over £20,000!

Tat might be more down to being Bentley than W12. ;-)

I've seen an A8 and Q7 diagnosed as needing similar work but both cars had taken very deep baths!
