Afternoon, I'm doing the London to Brighton this weekend and am planning to take my car down Saturday night and park it somewhere. Then once I have done the ride I can cycle a couple of miles out of Brighton and jump in the car. I have not done this ride before and wondered if anyone has suggestions on where to park my car? I have been told the traffic is terrible on the day, so maybe drive out through Hove? Thanks in advance Chris

P.s. I've got to get back to Redhill.

I used to live in Hove - the bit from the seafront to just past the train line is permit holders only. You should be able to find somewhere to park by Hove Park easily enough. You could always try Preston Park too (street view is excellent for looking up parking restrictions).

ETA: Driving out is much easier from Hove - up past the park, onto the bypass which takes you onto the A23.

Ok cool, thanks for the tip. After a lot of googling I'm now wondering if I can park in the marina car park? Hopefully it will be less busy there? Thanks

I did this a few years ago. I parked in a residential area on the other side on the A23 from Preston Park, under the railway bridge. Allows for a quick exit from the town.

Yes you can park in the marina for free but I would have two issues - one it's right next to the Whitehawk Estate which is a rough as you like (I'd think carefully before leaving my car overnight there). Secondly, you'd have to go through Brighton to get home, which is a major pain.
