I've been going to the 24 hour for over ten years now and an enjoyable highlight has usually been sitting with a beer on the roadside along with the masses, to watch all sorts of exotic and interesting cars cruise by - with most obliging with a bit of a burn-out to entertain us.

So this year I wandered down to the road that bordered our campsite at Blue Nord for my little high octane "fix". Sadly, it soon became apparent that very few supercars bother leaving the safe confines of their campsite any more, due to the pathetic, irresponsible, downright disrespectful and embarrassing behaviour of a bunch of total chavian to@sers that clearly haven't yet learnt the art of handling the effect of a small alcohol intake.

I'm really not sure how utterly brainless those cretins need to be, to not realise that their behaviour is actually wrecking the spectacle that they're all standing around hoping to see. I would have quite happily taken my own car through there and joined in the fun laying down some rubber - but not while there are grown up thugs wielding super-soakers intent on spraying and damaging my interior (Mr ugly Shrek lookalike....you know who you are).

..and all others like him, do us genuine fans a favour - stay at home, spend your benefits on more tattoos and piercings - and bugger up your own weekend, not OURS.

I really hope the culprits get to read this - but then on the other hand I don't, as do we want such a@sholes infiltrating PH?

From an otherwise very happy 24hr 2011 goer. (Ps, Mr McNish - very pleased you're ok!)

I went down there about mid afternoon and took the car to join in the fun at one point, and it was all pretty good then - just water down, attempt burnout, crowd cheers (or boos) and on your way. I can only guess it went a bit downhill over the course of the evening.

I drove most days, you just need to know where to avoid. I too was on Nord and used the back cut from Arnage to access the site without having to head down the chav alley.

Not far from our tents was a group with a pool, a sound system and a big TV. They were the talk of Bleu Nord as they played very loud music to 5am daily, at the same volume as they would play it at 10pm (v loud). Most were pissed off and I heard someone shout at them only to get some abuse back.

Very disappointed to see a PH sticker on one of the cars in the group. I thought us British (and PH) knew better. A small reduction in volume at 1 or 2 am was all that was required.

It most definitely did go downhill as the evening set in. I watched in horror and bewilderment as a (British) chav spat on the bonnet of a Maserati simply because the driver didn't oblige with his drunken demand for a wheelspin. To be honest, I very soon retreated to my tent feeling really quite ashamed to be associated with them, if only by nationality. This type of thing is probably a result of the event being so affordable to those types of individuals.

Post Reg No and shame yes

We all like to have a party out there. But to fire abuse back when a lot of people are clearly being disturbed by your antics just isn't cricket.

I would like to think that PH'ers hold some kind of etiquette on or off the road

Seeing people getting excited about a wheelspinning Vauxhall Corsair at the Beausejour roundabout on Friday evening made me wonder how many of those involved go to the local cruise on a Sunday evening to watch the same, and why they went to Le Mans for it. I also didn't like getting hit on the neck by debris from a firework when walking past there - no harm done but it could have been.

It might seem a strange concept to some but I go to Le Mans to watch some of the greatest drivers in the world battling on the track, not tts in Corsas doing burnouts. Seeing some other great cars which are rare on the roads but taken to the race is great and thanks to those who do.

The real disappointment about behaviour was finding out whilst talking to someone from Aston Martin that the One-77 had been dented on the rear wing by people bashing on it as they were driving it inside the circuit - I can't understand why people who ought to be car lovers if they gave gone to Le Mans would do that.

Rant over, it was a great weekend which I really enjoyed, but to me some people don't seem to understand.

Another group fired one of the loud rockets at a TV helicopter, when it was over Nord, thankfully it missed.

Was really hoping not to see this thread again, I missed this year and had to suffer the really poor Classic's last year.

Having lasted 2 and a half days since "Mad Friday", with out a mention of the Chavs have ruined it, I thought things had quietened down again to the times of our first visit to Le Mans in 2000. Its a shame but I don't think there will be any change soon.

If it could only stay at the same level of antics most people enjoy till about 1700 there would be no problem but some just take it too far.

Hoping to return next year but who knows??

What a giant group of s they were. I walked past early in the afternoon and it seemed quite civilised with people enjoying the cars and only a bit of a good natured water fight going on so I took my 928 for a drive down later... I'm not particularly precious about my car but I did not appreciate it getting hit with what appeared to be a water balloon full of nasty french lager. I'm just glad they missed my window.

Judging by the number of people who were falling down drunk and stepping in front of cars who were intent on buggering off before they got any more water or other fluids through their windows, it's only a matter of time before somebody gets hurt along there.

As a Le Mans virgin I was surprised by the number of entirely inconsiderate people in the camp sites. I understand that for a lot of people it's a drunken lads weekend away. That's good fun but there's plenty of room for that without behaving like a prick. By the end of the weekend I was thoroughly sick of bad music at ear bleeding volume at 4am, getting showered with gravel from unsilenced dirt bikes and watching every footstep to avoid stepping on shards of glass. The difference from various music festivals I've attended was marked and it doesn't make us motorsports fans look particularly good by association.

Is the Classic better? More civilised?

G/F and I thinking about going next year with her father, but if it's just a yob-fest then the Appleby horse fair is closer!

Its things like that drive people away each year like me as well.

Our site last year at the Porsche village was like the LITTLE BIG HORN other camp sites all around us.
Some of the people there were well OTT outside our site.

The tryhards with the DJ booth?

Been at that end of Blue Nord a couple of times now. I'm either too old or not drunk enough when I go to bed but that really wound me up. Going on through to 5am on the morning of the race wasn't good preparation of getting as much of the race watched as possible.

It could be read into your comment that you approve of the chav behaviour. I have been most years for the last 10 and just don't understand it, if you can explain what makes the chav behaviour acceptable then please do, I would love to know why it should happen. As I said earlier, it reminds me of the less savoury parts (related to cars) of what happens at the cruise in the local DIY centre car park on a Sunday evening and that is something I have no interest in, but if I did would be a lot cheaper than a trip to Le Mans.

I saw little or no chav behaviour this year. Pay a bit more for a secure site and the experience is very different - well worth it. Houx Annexe used to be bedlam.

We had a secure site and yes, the camp was great.

Outside the camp and around LM generally however, the chavs were there. It's a shame when you worry about driving your car with the roof off.

Campsite wise it was OK, I don't get why people think loud music is good at 4.20am (probably later but that is when I happened to see my watch) but I can live with that. It is the mistreatment of cars which I don't get, and that takes place around various of the roads which people use to access even the more expensive camp sites and hotels etc. Personally I get plenty of pleasure looking at the exotic and unusual/rare cars of all values which turn up, but spaying them (even with water) and expecting burnouts just seems bizarre to me. And the burnouts are potentially so dangerous with lots of people around - and I certainly don't do elf and safety generally.

I thought this year was more civilised than last year myself. Seemed a bit more of a relaxed atmosphere around the circuit and campsites.

Only problem we had was our tent and contents got stolen on the Sunday after the race... mad
