'Must Sees' in France, N Italy and Switzerland
Discussion
So, the Mexico trip is off the cards as the gf 'can't afford it'. As is India.
The suggestion was made to do a road trip around Denmark, Norway and Sweden (a mate did it last year in his W124 Merc and had a great time). Return ferry costs of £770(!!) put a damper on that idea and that's even before the cost of petrol and staying/eating out there was considered.
As such we've decided on a Euro drive (yes in the E30!), starting in France, going down towards Monaco. From there across to Italy stopping off in Milan. Not sure how far we're planning to go into Italy. Returning then via Switzerland and more than likely France again (maybe a quick day in Belgium).
Having done the Euro banger rally last year, I've a fair idea of what to expect, of course this time round there's freedom to go wherever we want (within reason!).
Are there any real 'stand out' places people would recommend stopping off to see/visit? I'd rather not end up in the French/Italian/Swiss equivalent of Birmingham.
TIA

for a serious suggestion, i like the lauterbrunnen valley much,. stop the car in lauterbrunnen, head up to wengen on the train (car free village), stay there a night or two, look at the views, the eiger, you can go to the junfraujoch if you want.
in N italy you should probably go to lake lugano or lake como... or lake garda further to the south/east.
view that looks like it is from wengen:

He's driving through France to the Cote d'Azur, easily possible to go west of Paris and take in the Milau bridge although granted it's not the most direct route, but not much of a detour either.
fair enough, i just checked the map and realised i neglected to consider how far east you have to go from calais... I am on the french/german border so its just directly south for me!Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
