My car has been keyed

Not a happy bunny.
The front drivers side wing, the bonnet, the boot and the rear wing. The drivers door was purposley left untouched for some reason.
I have called police and been given a crime reference number. I spoke to the insurance yesterday and have to fork out £350 for the malicious damage excess which is dissapointing.
I dont have any pictures of the boot unfortunatley but it is just as bad.
Should I expect an assesor to visit or do I have to do all of the leg work myself. The only thing I am worried about it having half or the car a different colour now
I have suspicions as to who did it. And its related to where I park.
Its a difficult colour to photograph but its pretty dissapointing to be honest.

Are you planning to confront those you believe to be responsible? You MAY find that you get the car repaired and it happens again otherwise.

I would try to cut / polish as much of it out as possible before claiming . If you have an idea who or why you were targeted what's to say it won't happen again
Its all down to the metal. I'd rather cut it out than have to claim and pay £350 but there isnt too much I can do about it.Zod said:
I'd had BMWs for years without getting them keyed, bought and Aston and left it out of the garage one night and it got keyed. Go figure, as the Americans say.
My friend never had a car vandalised. About 6 months ago he got a 5-Series and it's been keyed twice and had a brick through the windscreen once.Scott330ci said:

Long story with me lead me to get CCTV and a subsequent prosecution against someone who had it in for me. A bit of heavy duty sand paper managed to do £1000+ damage to my car since he managed to scratch every panel down one side.
Due to the hassle and pain involved, actually dropped from 2 cars to 1. Parked in garage every day and never left outside. Maybe too far the other way, but sick and tired of damage to mine and neighbours cars. Someone even nicked the hub caps off a neighbours 2001 Pug 206 - to replace the ones from theirs (CCTV captured everything).
And I live in the good part of town!!! Small simple and "petty" crime is a nightmare and the police are usually powerless to do anything about it. Shame. Serious crime might be down, but its the low level petty stuff that has had a massive increase with no resources to resolve it. Shame, as its this type of crap that makes it bad for everyone.

If someone breaks in to nick stuff, or takes the car, its almost not as bad, its just they want the car or stuff.
This is pure spite.
It happened when I was a teenager to a new car of my Dads. Got it fixed and it happened again.
It turned out it was a local teenager I had fallen out with. The matter was soon sorted.
All I can say is that I have found smart repairs can work. I have a couple of pool cars at work which get a fair bit of abuse - it is amazing what they can do.
Might be worth sucking up the cost yourself. Then if it happens again, perhaps get the cops to investigate your suspicions.

Problem from a Police perspective is stuff like this 9 times out of 10 is so so difficult to prove. More often than not you simply can not even get off the ground with an investigation unless you or someone else has actually watched the person do it.
The worst is sometimes we know damn well who did it and still cant do anything about it as we have no proof.
Ive said before in different threads this is a damn stupid and pointless crime and I bloody hate it. My car was keyed last year so know how you feel.

Well I have just had a rather interesting discussion with my insurance.so it's not just £350.
My excess is a £1000 (Its big but its an expensive car to insure) and that is the excess. They have no idea who told me it would be £350 but apprently they made it up.
Never mind. Very dissapointed. Gutted in fact.
