Is Robert a fraudster?

Put my car on classifieds for sale
Very soon after a man called Robert rang me via a mobile to arrange to come the following day to look and buy if he liked. Was from London he claimed.
Was wanting to take it away the same day and pay by bankers draft.
Arranged to met him at Leeds railway station the day after where wed then look at the car.
If he liked it wed then go to his bank where the prearranged bankers draft would be handed over by the teller (so as to avoid fraud)!
Low and behold he never appears.
When text he replies that the insurance turned out to be too expensive.

Maybe his insurance quote was just higher than he thought it would be? It was rude to make you wait without letting you know he wasnt coming however.

If someone would want to view my car I'd make them come to it, rather than me go to them. Does sound a bit weird though...

Oh and please use an apostrophe in "we'd". I thought you were talking about marrying him at some point!

Given he let the seller know he wasn't coming. He's not that much of a timewaster.

The guy had us insure it for the day.
We then tok it to Leeds so he could have an easier journey
More fool us for trying to make it easier!
Point is if you are searching for a car and you find the one Im sure that youd have done an insurance quote before committing to a 200 mile journey.
He only let us know midday when we asked where he was!

No. Point is to make buyers come to you, simple.

Fail to see any fraud connection myself. Just a time waster and there's plenty of those.

Insurance, lack of funds- excuses could be numerous. Move on and forget it. Another genuine buyer will be found before long

Never ever stay in especially waiting for a "buyer" nine times out of ten they never show up in my experience, always arrange for them to come when you are at home anyway so your day is not wasted.
