Your fantastic roads (the UK has big time failed to invest over the past few decades (look at the tunnels and bridges and compare with Dartford and Blackwall)).
Great motorway services with clean facilities (need say nothing about Little Chef).
Lots of friendly nods and waves.
The wine.
The food.
The welcome at the drivers parade.
The weather.
The improved facilities for ACO members.
Not having 2hr tailbacks like the M20.
Yes it is very French, yes I don't know where all the capitalists hang out (I'd be selling ice from the back of a van) - but all in all not a bad job and I see why the ex-pats like it.
Thought chavvy behaviour was down this year too.

+1, I made it from Le Mans to Eurotunnel on Sunday pm in 3hr50, but Tunnel to Southampton took 5hr45 thanks to the M20 clusterf**k!
Yuk!! We went Portsmouth to Cherbourg and back again - 3hrs from LM to Cherbourg 2.5hrs on the fastcat (asleep), 30mins later back in Southampton....result!This is a Great Thread, have to Agree, the roads and welcome you get is fantastic 
I normally take a longer route down to Le mans using the old D roads, the small towns and villages are great and normally once you get through them the roads open up with hardly any other cars on the roads 
Last year when I returned to the Ferry terminal at Dunkirk I even had a van load of Police ask me for permission for photos all taking turns having their photos taken while sitting in the car. it was all smiles and handshakes.

Agree with the OP. Every time I go to France, I fall in love with the place more. I too understand why ex pats choose to settle there. Everyone I encounter is always very helpful and patient - especially with the language barrier. Agree that some of their facilities and services put ours to shame.
As per a previous poster, those machine and counter-served espressos have kept me going in the past!
Also loved the groups of people on numerous motorway bridges, waving on Monday in the pouring rain. Mucho respect, and it was a lovely goodbye on the way to the ferry
