Porsche Carrera 4S or Jaguar XKR or......996 Turbo? HELP!

Morning all,
As title suggests, i'm struggling to make a decision on my next car. My present car (987 Boxster S) is up for sale at the moment and as soon as it shifts i will be looking to get myself behind the wheel of something more special. My Budget is 35k and i have been looking at the present model XKR's for sometime now. Beautiful motors. However the other half last night suggested she isn't too keen on the XKR (because she thinks its stupid a car as big as it is doesn't have seats in the back you can actually fit in
).
For similar money i was looking at the e92 BMW M3 but it just doesn't look as special as the XKR although no doubt it is a fantastic car. However, last night i started looking at 911's and for around 35k i could get a Carrera S probably on a 06/56 reg or a 04 reg 996 turbo.
Now i know the 996 Turbo is supposed to be an animal and this would be my first choice purely because it is pretty much a supercar but my concerns are it is now becomming an old car and will it be hard to shift in 3 years time when i will probably be looking to sell? also is it possible to get a OPC warranty on a 2004 turbo? and what sort of crazy money would i be looking at?
Whatever i chose it will be used as a second car probably doing somewhere between 6 to 8k a year in mileage.
So boys and girls, what would you do if you were me?

I think it comes down to what you want really. The Jag is undeniable the nicer place to sit, visually and comfort wise. If you do long distances then the Jag will be the nicest place to sit. Fast, good looking and capable too.
But I suspect either of the 911's will be more fun, more flighty. Smaller and lighter feeling.

Hard to advise as we do not have adequate information. You neglected to post a pic of your girlfriend.
Between the Porsches, I would go for the turbo over the C4S. There are concerns over the longevity of 996 Carrera engines in the non-turbo, non GT versions of the 996. Now, as to how much of the concern is interweb hype and how much is real, that is a large question. Suffice to say, the turbo and GT cars have a different engine design which is widely regarded as much stronger. And that will have a bearing on resale in years to come.
Either way, Hartech seem to offer a very well respected long term warranty program, and Baz of Hartech posts over in the Porsche forum regularly.
