Should I buy it or not?

I find myself in a tricky situation. The other half wants a new car.
Her good friend is pregnant and offered her 2004/54 Ford Focus 1.8TDCi LX 5 Door with 100k miles for £2k as a quick easy sale as she was downsizing to one car with her husband.
She offered this a month ago with the deal being we could have it end of July after the baby was born. A week later it appears it needs a new clutch and dual mass flywheel. It cost her £850.00 to have done, on the agreement that we would go to £2.5k as
a) I knew it was a cheap car anyway
b) A new guaranteed clutch is no bad thing in a 100k motor!
I went and had a look at the weekend as only SWMBO had seen it. Along with doing all the usual checks I asked to see the service history, which was at their other flat so not avilable, but I did question the cambelt and when was it last changed? The response was it has just been serviced so all should be ok, but they would look into it.
Upon getting home and doing some research it transpires it is due right now at 100k miles.
On questioning the last service it appears ford quoted £350, so they took it elsewhere and got it done cheaper, however no cambelt was done, obviously the Ford service would have done.
They have come back to Sari today and said they will have it done now if we agree to go another £100 (cost to them £245) to £2,600.
Now am I out of order here in expecting them to do it at no extra cost to us?
I know the car is still cheap, but they wanted a quick easy sale, and we offered the cash as and when they wanted it, ie:keep it until it becomes no use anymore and then we`ll pitch up the next day holding the folding.
Part of me feels we should just agree and go with the flow to keep the peace as it should still be worth the money, and part of me wants to tell them to piss of they`re starting to take the mick now!!!
The rest of the car is straight, but the front bumper is scuffed on both front corners, so i need to allow a couple of hundred to sort that out.
What the general consensus of the PH massive
Pay the money. or tell them to go jump?

True enough chum, I wouldn`t pay £350, that was the cost from Ford for a 100k service including the cambelt.They have found somewhere to do it for £245, and are asking for an extra £100 towards it, so no point in doing it myself,I can effectively get it done for £100.
Just wondering what else is going to go wrong before we get it and are asked to contribute towards
Not much help to you right now but this is why I Never mix business with pleasure (actually I did it once and it all went wrong!).
However, as above, £100 seems cheap enough to get the belt done and as long as the price at £2600 is still good then why not go for it? As you say, new clutch, new cam - not a bad start.

Thanks mate, appreciate the comments. I think I`m just being tight, it`s just it started off as a £2k car, and in the space of a couple of weeks we`re up to £2.6k! Hmmm. You may well be right chum, am I asking too much for "mates rates" as it was initially offered at £2k, or should I just suck it up and get on with it?
Just search on AT, max 3k, diesel, sub 80k miles. Plenty about around 2.5k. Admittedly a year or two older but there's quite a few there. So, for me it seems 'about the money' given 100k miles. Unless you want a 54 plate of course?

True enough chum, in fact my Mum has already offered her her old 2002 Renault Megane Fidji with 32k miles on for nothing, but she loves diesel and won`t entertain a petrol at all.I guess what I'm trying to say that at 100k miles and 2600 it's not a 'total bargain'.
