Zenvo Reveals 1250hp Limited Edition

How do you sell a $1.8m supercar to the Americans? If you're Danish supercar maker Zenvo Automotive the answer appears to be to chuck in a special edition watch worth $50k gratis.

All flippancy aside, however, this is a new and interesting take on the special edition, and it's more than just a free watch. Zenvo (which makes the 1104hp ST-1) and Red Sea Distribution (which distributes the ST-1 in the US) have come up with a North American market-specific edition called the ST-1 50S.

As well as the Swiss-made Aspen Zenvo watch, the three ST-1 50s that will be built are due to get 1250hp and 1106lb ft of torque (rather than the piffling 1104hp and 1054lb ft of torque the standard cars get), individually monogrammed seats, magnesium wheels, a seven-speed sequential transmission and a choice of red, white or blue paintwork.

Zenvo isn't quoting performance figures for the ST-1 50s but, given the fact that the normal car can hit 60mph in 3.0secs and has a claimed top speed (limited) to 235mph courtesy of its (entirely bespoke) turbocharged 7.0-litre V8, we suppose the word 'fast' would be an appropriate adjective...

As with all Zenvos, all warranty and servicing work will be done by a 'concierge' service, whereby engineers will fly out to wherever a car is and deals with any mechanical issues in situ (much like McLaren used to do with the F1).

But what's happening with the original Zenvo? (We hear you cry.) Well, after production delays while Zenvo perfected its car (and in particular the 7-speed sequential gearbox) the first cars are due to head out to customers within the next month or so.

Zenvo is only planning to build three ST-1 50s and, while they are ostensibly aimed at the US market, we would imagine they wouldn't turn you away if you rocked up with $1.8m in dollar bills in a wheelbarrow, wherever you were from. And if you can't stretch that far, there are still a few build slots left for the 'standard' car. And that costs 'just' €850k (£750k)...
