Hi,
Does anyone have or know anyone who is selling black wing mirrors for a 328i Sport Coupe, n/s and o/s?

Cheers

Try ebay, few set on there.

BTW you are aware that the colour coded bit is a removal cover?

surely they are just standard E36 mirrors and not specific to sport or coupe.

a breakers yard should have millions. You could always have a crack at spraying yours??

E36 coupe mirrors are not the same as E36 saloon, Estate, or Compact mirrors, but they are the same as convertible mirrors. wink
I wouldn't have thought having them sprayed the right colour is going to be too expensive anyway.

Ok thanks thumbup
At the mo i have M3 mirrors but i just don't like them, i'd prefer to have the original ones back on. I can't see as well with the M3 mirrors and adjusting them to the correct position is a pain.
My other half would spray them the right colour for me as he does a lot of that kind of work

Well you'll be quids in then, most people pay good money to go the other way.
In your position I'd get over to one of the E36 specific forums, such as e36coupe.com and put the offer out there.....I'd very surprised if you had to wait long for a fellow black coupe driver to offer you a swap, if they are 'original' BMW M3 mirrors and not copies I'd have a very rough guess that they would be worth about £100 exchanged. wink

That's a nice looking car!, be prepared for plenty of cleaning though as black shows up the dirt like you wouldn't believe! (ask Me how I know! scratchchin )

Just in case you weren't aware, the mirrors are an absolute doddle to remove and fit (it's only three bolts), just make sure you get the heated version, not the standard ones as it makes a lot of difference in inclement weather (the standard ones can be converted with heated replacement glass and four wires but it's a bit of a faff TBH).

Another handy tip:

If the mirror bases have faded and/or have some corrosion damage (they're an alloy metal underneath and can start flaking) then:

1) Sand the bases down (sand back any corrosion damage and use car body filler to fill any dips then sand the filler down so the surface is smooth).
2) Carefully mask up the areas around the base.
3) Spray them with an etch primer and leave them to dry overnight.
4) Spray them with several light coats of Hammerite Satin Finish Black paint (let each layer dry fully before applying the next layer).
( http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/... ), and leave to dry overnight.

It may seem like a lot of work (which to be fair it is!), but this will tidy the bases up and return them to an "as new" condition.

(I avoided washing the bases for a couple of weeks to ensure they were fully hardened off but this may not be necessary. I did this about two years ago and the bases still look superb!)

(BTW, that wouldn't be an ///M3 badge sitting on the rear of your 328i Sport would it? scratchchin . Some of the BMW snobs get very arsey about things like that, believe it or not!.

I've got the ///M badge (without the "3") on the back of mine and have had some grief from BMW owners telling Me it shouldn't be on My car because it's not an M3!. I just tell them it's not claiming to be an M3, besides which, the badge originally came from the factory attached to the bootlid of My previous E30 325i Sport (which I sadly had to scrap but I saved the badge!), and I don't care what their opinion is!).

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new car! driving

I hope you removed the M badges. Front one on the grill looks nasty.

Nothing wrong with M badges, the rest of My Sport is plastered with them from the factory! (as I say, My E30 325i Sport came with them on the rear bootlid and on the front grill from the factory), but personally, I'd remove the "3" badge if it's fitted as it's not an M3.

On My car the ///M is on the left hand side of the bootlid and the 328i badge is on the right hand side so it's not pretending to be anything it's not. I was actually thinking of replacing the "i" from 328i and fitting the "is" badge so it would read: 328is as it's a sport! (I bet that would annoy people! biggrin )

Emma, if you like the ///M badges then you leave them on and be happy! smile

I could but that would mean changing the steering wheel too. There is only the one on the grille. The one on the back had been removed before i bought the car.

I think the one on the front looks ok smile
