So the 500 has bigger valves as standard, and the 5 litre capacity is just a stroker conversion?

Does this mean if I bolt 500 heads to my 4.3, I get a 4.3 BV?

on 4.3 buy fitting the 500 heads you'd get more bhp but probably not much more torque, also be careful regarding chamber capacity there are 2 varieties of heads, the later ones were smaller.
If you want to upgrade your engine i would fit stage 3 medium valve heads.

re the chamber sizes Tim, I know they come in 28cc and 33cc versions but what other differnces are there and what effect does it have on the performance/reliability etc.
Also the 'medium valves' are not that much smaller than the big valves, again for a road car, aren't the medium sized ones probably optimum , with the big ones being too big, why I don't know though .

Edited for crap spelting as usual

The 500's came with a 30 cc average combustion so no good on a 4.3 you will need around 35 cc's or mapped ignition....

How come?

I'd have thought with the shorter stroke of the 4.3 if anything you'd need a smaller cc combustion chamber to achieve a decent CR?

Not arguing - just seeking explanation

The 500's run the pistons 40 tho down the bore as with most factory rv8's, the 4.3 the crown of the piston comes out of the bore around 15 though hence the 500 has a much bigger cc's in the block and piston to start with....
